yes - it is a plug and play device and windows 8.1 will automatically detect the device once it is plugged in to your PC (or laptop).

will i be able to use it to play a game that was originally a xbox 360 game but it is now in a pc version?

It depends on the game, Go look at the games system requirements for it and if it has controller/gamepad enabled, than yes you can.

I want to use this gamepad with a computer using Windows XP...  Has anyone had a good experience with this?

It has worked well for me. I have used it with several games and haven't had any complaints. Only thing I could complain about is the shape of the controller sometimes feels awkward, but that is likely because i'm used to a ps3 controller.

Does this controller vibrate? I couldn't find it on the info page.

No it does not. The F310 is wired and does not vibrate. The discontinued F510 is wired and does vibrate. The F710 is wireless and vibrates, using 2 AA batteries. They all work exactly the same on your computer as far as functionality.

Is this controller compatible with Windows 10?

Yes.  We upgraded to windows 10 and the controller was recognized and worked automatically.  I am even happy to report that we were able to use it as a spare Xbox one controller while streaming xbox through the windows 10 interface.  We even plugged it in to the xboxone and it worked on that console too.  I recommend this product.

windows 7 ? I need it to support the mouse and keyboard.

I use it with a mouse and keypad when I online game so it should not be a problem.

does this work with Mac?

I don't have a mac but i do believe there is a way to get this controller working for it. One way is to change the button on the back to direct input mode and it should work if it doesn't I suggest going to apples site and downloading the Gamepad Companion which should help, i would include a link but new egg doesn't allow me to put one in this message. Although before you buy this I would look around and see if you can get controller at a local electronics store and just ask the cashier if you can open it and get a feel for it. I personally did not like it and i felt that it was very clunky and hard to use; it also did not fit my hands at all and felt awkward but I have also seen other reviews where people actually liked it so it just depends on you. If you have any questions just reply to me I'll answer as soon as possible.

Yes it works with Vista. That's what I'm using and as Lee K states, just set the switch on the "bottom" or back of the controller to the X position.  That is all I did.

cd with drivers come with it?

Unfortunately it downloads the drivers automatically once you install. I personally prefer to install drivers manually, but that's just me. I have to admit though, it was smooth and had no issues.
