I bought this because of the price, and so far no regrets. As far as I can tell this is genuine. It has no spelling errors on the box, and the quality matches that of my Tiamats. I currently have this headset connected to an asus m5a99x r2.0 pro, and it is running as the default sound input/output. With the DTS configurator and razers surround software, I am almost shamed to say it but they sound better than my Tiamats. Also regarding the price, they are probably priced so cheap because they are usb/analog which it doesnt work either way, it only works with both the usb and analog cables plugged in. Also these are.marketed specifically as an xbox headset.

Does it come with a usb cable or how will I connect it to my computer?

If you look at the picture on newegg that shows all the items included, you will see that the cable attached to the headset has a USB connector on the end.  That USB connector is used for connecting to both the Xbox and a computer.

Can i plug this into my computer using usb and be able to use the mic and headphones that way?

If your asking if you can use these as headphones and have a separate mic than yes. Also if you want to use these for both that's works as well but I highly suggest you only use these as a headset. Their microphone quality is very bad and tends to make a very annoying sound for others. You can however fix the sound if you turn your mic sound down but than it is hard to hear you. I hope this helps. Overall I would suggest a different headset though.

No green... but there is a little light that helps you know when it's fully charged or needs to be charged.

How do you connect this to a 1 x Headphone-out/microphone-in combo jack?

You wouldn't be able to connect it like this. Even using a splitter the jack would only recognize an incoming or outgoing connection and wouldn't be able to differ between the connections. You can however use a 3.5 mm to USB adapter for the connection.

does anybody know if this headset would still be compatable with an offboard 5.1 sound card on pc?

Yes, it uses normal analog jacks. However you will still need to power the headset via USB. I suggest using an external adapter like a cell phone charger.
