can i play music with it unplugged?

They are not blue tooth speakers so you will at least have to have the audio jack plugged into your phone/laptop/desktop etc. They do have batteries so you don't have to have the USB plugged in unless you need to charge the batteries or use them for extended amounts of time.

Is this one the new green lighting edition or the old blue lightning?

I ordered mine 11/29/2013 and I received the blue lighting.

Does the Ferox still come with blue lighting? Reason I ask, Razer themselves are currently only selling them with green lighting. I'm looking specifically for blue lighting to match the rest of my computer setup, which is completely done in blue lighting.

Mine came in green, ordered in December 2015, been awhile.  At first I thought the question was about my Razer Deathadder mouse which I got around the same time because it has blue lighting not green.  Funky.
