Is this usb or 3.5mm jack?

The Chroma model is USB, however there are other models of Razer Krakens that use 3.5 mm jacks.

Stupid question but are these on ear or over ear?

These are over ear, they are very comfortable but they do get warm after long game sessions.

Will the surround sound be compatible for Mac?

It's compatible for any Windows or MAC and works perfectly on All platforms :)
