Do these headphones have any built in volume control capabilities?

There are no built in volume controls on these headphones. All volume adjustments have to be made through the sound management options on your computer or device.

Do i need a sound card for this headset?

It is based on USB so an add on sound card is not necessary. I do, however, recommend installing the Razer software for better quality control.
