Question 1

Is this keypad used in addition to a gaming mouse such as the Razer Naga 2014?  Also, do I need a specialized keyboard in addition to the standard keyboard?

I use this keypad in addition to a Razr Naga Gaming Mouse.  No you don't need a specialized keyboard in addition to a standard keyboard.  I use a standard keyboard for typing and I use this gaming keypad for when I play World of Warcraft.  It makes key bindings so easy to use.

Does this have a thumbstick or is that just a large button?

it's both, actually. it can function as a thumbstick like on, say, an xbox controller, or you can program it to act like a button depending on the direction you click it. I'm still messing with it to find a good solution for flying aircraft in games like Planetside 2 and all that but I like it a lot, but in Warframe I have attack powers mapped to activate when I push the stick left or right. It can be programmed to have either 4 directions/buttons or 8 directions/buttons too.

Yes, it is for left handed use. I have had mine for almost a year and  love it for online gaming.

Question 4

Does anyone know if the three keys on the left can be set up to function as alt, shift, and ctrl keys?  I plan to use this for World of Warcraft, and I use the healbot addon, which uses a lot of of shift+clicking, etc.  My current keyboard has those keys just to the left of the AWSD directional controls, and I would love it if I could do the same on this.

I bought this Keypad for WoW as well and the bottom left most button is set as default to shift, so you should be good. So far that button, and the upper thumb button I have not been able to keymap using the normal WoW UI, admittedly I haven't tried messing with anything outside the game. Also of note, you can map the thumb stick to movement controls which frees up all of the finger keys for spells. I've been raiding with this for 2 months now and absolutely love it, the only downside is that if you want to type in chat you'll need to have a normal keyboard close by. Not at this time, this one's for the left hand only.  Razer does have a history of producing ambidextrous/left hand mice though, so if they get enough requests they might produce one, who knows?  You could probably find their contact info at their website, or their CEO is pretty active on Twitter too.

yes, it will work with older systems, windows by default recognizes it as a keyboard, it acts like the left side of a keyboard if you don't have the razer drivers installed. after you install  them you can rebind the keys however you like. the drivers are available for win and mac

I use this for gaming in lieu of a keyboard.  I have not had to use a keyboard along with this for this purpose.  you probably could replace a keyboard with it due to the amount of settings you can program, i guess.  I do still have a keyboard as well, though.  That said, i love this thing for gaming.  It is very comfortable to use and fits to your hand very nice.  I would recommend this product.  Very easy to bind using the Razer software too.  if you are playing games that require a lot of keys, though, I might recommend the Razer pad that has the additional top row of keys.(4 rows instead of 3)  I have not had a need for anymore keys than this one offers for the games I personally play though.  Hope this helps.

can you set the thumb-pad as A,S,D,W so i can us it to move and the mouse to look?

Yes; you can also set it to pre-set macros or run programs, though to customize the controls you have to download Razer Synapse 2.0 from their website. If the program is not running the thumb joystick is set to default as the arrow keys.

I've personally found it difficult to adjust to moving with my thumb instead of the traditional wasd keys, but with a bit of adjusting it definitely works well.

Has anyone tried to use this with minecraft and if you have and it works well can you like send me something or tell me the specific details because that was why i wanted to buy this???

I have not used it with minecraft, but it's a programmable keyboard so you can customize each and every game you have. You can program each key to do a specific button press or even macros (a sequence of key presses programmed into one key). Its default settings are the left side of a normal keyboard so you have tab-q-w-e-r on top and caps-a-s-d-f mid and shift-z-x-c-v on the bottom.

The beauty of this keypad is customization. If you are tired of hunting and finding the right keys all over the keyboard, you can program the keys you want so they are all at your fingertips.

Question 10

Does anyone know if the thumb stick is "removable" like on the Nostromo? I really prefer to be able to press the distinct direction buttons as modifiers and I'm worried that the thumbstick will not work for me. Thanks!

Not that I know of... it certainly does not come with a replacement D-pad. Though for context, the stick is not analog; it is an 8-point digital directional stick with a noticeable "click" to activate each point. It's not very functional as a WASD replacement (which is what I was hoping for), mostly because its impossible to use at the same time as the "spacebar" thumb key (in hindsight: duh)... but it would be quite functional as a four-point executable for modifiers, in my opinion.
