Does this come with Server Rails, or if not what rails do you need to install these in a rack?

No rails on this, it mounts to the rack just using the four screws on the rack mount ears.  As a consequence you really need two people to mount it, one holding it up and the other handling the screws.

Other than that I'm impressed with the value for the money of the case.

Question 2

Will this case RSV-R4000 mount into a standard 19" wide rack?

Accepted Answer

Yes.  Depending on the strength of your rack frame, you may want to add side rails to support the bottom.  For me, this is standard practice for heavy or long items.

What size power supplies fit in this case?

There is ample room for a "deeper" supply than a standard square ATX. I have a Corsair modular 1000 watt supply in  mine, it is eight inches deep vs the usual 5.5, and there's plenty of room.

Question 4

How many molex fan connections are there? My power supply only has 2 molex connectors.

One for each included fan; 4 total. I'm guessing though you could either serialized or combine fan supply molexs' with an adapter, or even swap fans with 3 or 4 pin motherboard sys_fan plugs.

Where do the 4 fans go?

The two 120mm fans are located in the front, one in front of each drive bay (which are easily removed if needed), and the two 80mm fans are located above the I/O shield for exhaust.

I have a couple questions about building a PC (for data processing) into this rackmount chassis and I've never done this before and I've tried to do research but don't fully understand everything, so I'm pretty naive - forgive me.
1.) I'm looking to purchase a standard 19" server rack (42U).  My understanding is that this chassis will fit into the standard 19" rack without rails - I'd simply screw it into the rack itself - is this correct?
2.) Accessibility to ethernet ports, USB 3.0 ports, etc. is extremely important.  I chose a MB (ASUS X99 Deluxe II) because it has multiple ethernet ports and USB ports.  When I install a MB into this or any rackmount chassis - will I have full external access to ports on the side of the MB? (just like I would on a normal PC case build)
3.  I'm planning to use an Antec 750W 80 Plus Platinum power supply - will this fit/work in this chassis?
4.  I chose a Corsair Hydro H80i liquid cooler to sit directly on the CPU - will this fit height-wise? Will I be able to mount the fan for it somewhere?

1. Yes you can use the rack ears. Rails are not required although they do make mounting easier (standard shelf type rails) and if you get sliding rails it makes accessing the rear much easier depending on your rack configuration.
2. Yes you can access the back like a standard tower case. Your limitation here will be your rack configuration (see comment above). If it is mounted with other equipment and/or inside a rack cabinet vs an open frame rack, rear access is limited but that's not due to the case; just the rack.
3. Probably. I use standard ATX PSUs in these cases. There's a lot of space in these 4U cases but as with any case, be aware of your PSU cable lengths (to reach to the CPU power socket on the far side of the case) and the length of the PSU itself (likely not an issue until you hit 1KW class PSUs). Look at the case dimensions, PSU dimensions and PSU cable lengths.
4. Should fit height-wise but I have not used liquid cooling before. 1U is 1.75" so a 4U case is 7" deep/high. As far as the fan goes, unless you are willing to modify the case/cut an exhaust port in the side/top, I believe there is a 120mm fan space in the front. However, unless you want to blow hot air into the case, this will reverse air through the case (rear to front instead of front to rear like normal).

Question 7

How many inches in depth is this case? it is listed as 16 inches but that doesn't seem right? would it fit in a navepoint 9U or 6U rack?

19 inches is correct.  24 inches is the deepest I've seen, but at 19, it's a relatively compact server case.  It's still so easy to change out motherboards without disturbing drive-housings or drive-cabling.  Fans located between drives and motherboards are also left in-place.  The 24-inch depth cases allow super-large motherboards and/or two rows of fans in between.

What height CPU cooler could it fit?

I don't have a specific height - I have CoolerMaster 212s in ours, although our units are based on two other requirements: (1) holding 8 to 10 hard-drives plus an optical drive, and (2) incredible ease in drive- and motherboard-maintenance, including change-outs of mobo's.  We have some units with stock CPU coolers, too, but the 212s fit.

I think the on-line user manual (a PDF file) probably has the height dimensions listed.

Yes, you'd have to take off a few components like the handles first.

I'm looking to have a home server setup nothing too big, I plan to use two of these for my setup; what's a decent rank mount i may be able to use? I plan to keep it under my desk.

Accepted Answer

This will probably do it. Its 4U deep and 22" front to back not counting the handles. I have a full size ATX motherboard and the case is tall enough to handle a huge head sink.
