what does re-box mean? no box?

The item will be shipped without its original packaging. This may be for a number of reasons: the original box could have sustained cosmetic damage, the console could have been a display and therefore the original box has been discarded etc. Every item including cables, controller, documentation, etc should be included along with a working console.

I believe this is a mis-read.   It is not 'Red Boxed'  It is re-boxed.    This means the original packaging is not included.   This can be because of package damage sustained during shipping or in the warehouse, but the contents generally remain the same (console, controller, cabling, packet of manual, and Sony marketing materials)    I am unsure if this status affects your warranty coverage through Sony (I believe it does not.)

Yes. It was brand new, including the trial for play station plus and all of the chords/controller. It just did not have the original Sony box.

what is the small ear piece used for? can you play online and they hear you speak?

yes, its sony's cheap version of a headset, it works well for what it is, if you have cell phone ear buds with a mic, it works better.

I recently purchased this and it is the 500 gigabyte model. Looking at the space from its menu 407 gb is actually available with 93 gb being used by the operating system.

For whatever reason the original box is missing, and it comes in a plain brown box. Mine was complete, and seemed to be new other than the box. But I have had mine a couple years now...

500 GB. Just like the standard new models. The only outstanding difference is the "older" style motherboard. It consumes a little more electricity, but other than that, you won't find much of any significant difference compared to the newest model.

Is this the newer CUH1215 series, or the older model (glossy HD)? Different answers listed are confusing.

I would think that it is not tied to a specific model, but to whatever they have on hand at the time. For instance I got mine almost 10 months ago, and I could almost guarantee, that it would be a different model than something that might got out today. Just my thoughts on model questions....

I'm pretty sure it means it has at least been packaged in a different box.. mine came plastic wrapped to a fitted piece of cardboard.. no Barcode or booklet like on a playstation box. Comes with controller cord for controller  power cord the ps4 console an hdmi cord and a checklist of the tested components on the console. That being said the condition I got it in looked brand new.. the shrink wrap was still on the ps4 and the controller. Not a scratch or fingerprint was to be found. Well worth it if you are looking to buy a system.. but looking back I should have just put the money towards a really nice computer since games on the ps4 have been lacking compared to every other generation of console. (I have like 4 games that are worth playing.. playstation now service really made the system worth getting)
