Pros: The screen - It is super bright and looks amazing, especially on blu-ray content! The value - I tried to build a laptop of equal quality and speed on both HP and Dell websites and they cost between $1600-$1800. The HDMI - Both the desktop and Blu-ray movies look amazing on my 42" 1080P flatscreen. *Tip- For blu-ray movies you have to turn off the laptop screen because of copyrighting (Fn + F7). Cons: The speakers - but honestly, what laptop has good speakers...Use headphones (or the HDMI out).

Pros: I have had this laptop for around a month and a half, and I love it! Full HD Screen is amazing! It makes most other laptop screens look aweful. It is so bright, that when in a dark room it almost hurts your eyes! I didn't know if I would like the keyboard, but it is great! The screen size and overall size of the pc is perfect for me. It is very thin and fairly light for the size. The hard drive is very quiet! The speed of the computer is phenomenal. My other computer is around 10 years old, and it was getting so slow that it would tick me off just getting on the internet. Now I can actually use the power of our cable modem to load the web pages almost instantly. I did download the demo version of COD 4 to see what it looked like. It looked great, but there were times when play would get hitchy. I had everything on automatic, so I probably need to take a couple of the settings down. The finish of the computer is great! It doesn't show fingerprints that bad.

Cons: The battery is a little loose. The battery only seems to last for 2-3 hours. It does seem to run a little hot, but not extremely hot. A couple of the keys were squeaking for a week or so, but they don't anymore. The scrolling feature on the touchpad doesn't always seem to work the way I want it to. It seems like the pc takes FOREVER to start up. The screen size is great, but it really takes away from the battery life. The laptop would really benefit from a built in subwoofer like the 18'' Sony has. The speakers just aren't enough to make it sound good. There is a lot of pre-installed software, but most of it is useful. It just seems like some programs are just copies of windows programs that are already on the laptop.

Overall Review: I had a problem with the laptop at startup after a week of having the laptop. A window would pop up saying that a program had to shut down. I called Sony and the tech was VERY helpful. I gave him access to my computer and he found that somehow malware was on my computer. He got rid of it and talked me through everything he tried/did. It gave me a better idea of how Vista worked since I was new to it, and he showed me a couple tricks to help it start faster.

Pros: Beautiful sharp screen, good performing laptop, Vista Exerience index: 5.3 - Processor 5.9 - Mem 5.9/5.0 - Graphics 5.6 - HD, Overall 5.0 BluRay playback perfect (I opted for PowerDVD Ultra Edition) using the HDMI output.

Cons: Too many soft installed, somehow slows down the laptop (typical Sony style)...something to work around in the future for myself after the recovery discs are created. Slow DVD writing (not really a problem!) - Imprtant is the BluRay playback. The problem with the Touchpad, buttons and badly placed USB ports for me is just a myth, doesn't bother me at all. Not interested in the Virtualization technology on this laptop...this should be an entertainment laptop!

Pros: Screen is beautiful, HD Content looks amazing for a laptop. Flies through all mainstream tasks. Nice keyboard layout. Lightweight and portable for such a large screen. I think its the perfect balance if your looking for a larger screen size but want any battery life. You get all of the best FW features for the best price with this setup. Highest P series processor, 4 gigs of ram, the fast hdd, their best video card. If you were looking to buy an FW then this is the model to go with. Unless you need to burn blue-rays, but at 2x is it even worth it yet? Also, the black casing looks great, much more high end than the white.

Cons: Touchpad and buttons, vista 64 kind of annoying. Wishing I ordered a small bluetooth mouse along with the computer.

Overall Review: First time buying from NewEgg, notebook actually came a day early. This price is seriously too good to be true for all of these features. The fw285 had almost the same specs, except a slower hard drive, and was a few more hundred dollars and impossible to find.

Pros: The display is beyond beautiful with the FULLHD and 1920x1080 resolution. I never knew how terribly my desktop's display looked until I placed this next to it during setup. Design is sleek and comfortable to rest hands on. Keyboard was very easy to transition to. (Almost seamless.) Plays L4D on mostly high settings with 2x MSAA anti-aliasing and Anisotropic 2x. (Avg 30fps with background apps) Runs very quiet.

Cons: Left/right-click buttons are a little loud, but I just tap the touchpad most of the time anyways. I also had to boost the response of the touchpad in the control panel, but now it works beautifully. A lot of bloatware. Speakers are okay, but definitely not the greatest. However, I will almost always have this thing hooked up to my speakers.

Overall Review: Some of the software that is provided by Sony isn't completely useless. Vaio Care, although very shallow in terms of providing detailed information about what it is doing, provides a good number of maintenance solutions for the registry and other areas. You will have to take some time going through the programs yourself and be careful not to remove something that others are dependent on.

Pros: Real 1080p screen (1920x1080 res), 4 GB memory upgradeable to 8GB, ok battery life, blu-ray, good graphics, non-shiny finish means its not a fingerprint magnet, screen size eliminates or reduces black bars on most movies, can play most games on medium to high settings, HDMI looks great, light considering the screen size, quiet.

Cons: Loud touchpad buttons, despite having room for a full keyboard they chose instead to spread they keys out and give you a standard laptop one, slow burner, no PCMCIA slot, can get hot, typical bloatware preinstalled.

Overall Review: For this price you can't go wrong with this laptop. Blu-ray looks beautiful and even regular DVDs look great. It also plays most modern games on medium to high setting with a decent framerate. Its bright screen makes everything look great! It also runs quieter than my previous HP, though the trade off seems to be that its much hotter. I don't see why people complain about the USB placement it didn't bother me. Similar configurations from HP, Dell, and Toshiba were hundreds of dollars more.

Pros: The HD screen is phenomenal. However, the screen isn't the only reason why this laptop is a great buy. Performance: P8600, 4GB ram, 7200HDD and HD3650 complement this machine nicely. Handles Vista *sigh* without a problem, runs FO3 on medium settings (1920x1080) or high settings (1280x1024). Design: Best feature on this laptop is the BD with the HD screen. The layout of the keyboard is very comfortable. Extremely nice design. Hinge seems very durable. Being a 16.4" screen/6.7lb laptop it is still very portable. It can easily fit in my backpack with plenty of space to spare.

Cons: Only minor things that shouldn't make or break the decision. Something that has to be said is the location of the USB ports. If you are using a wired mouse this will be frustrating. However, this laptop has bluetooth so investing in a new mouse will alleviate this problem. The touchpad isn't anything to write home about. Buttons are a little loud. Vista... Gets pretty hot when playing graphic intensive games.

Overall Review: Keyboard buttons are spread a bit further apart then I'm used to. This shouldn't be a con, just something to point out. Overall, this is a great laptop for the price. If you are looking for a fast, well designed 16.4" screen computer, you've found it.

Pros: Love the 1920x1080 screen - very sharp and bright! Looks better than my Macbook aluminum. The BD rom-DVD/RW/CD/RW works well. The laptop itself is very well finished. I got it for $1199 and free shipping(took 5 days). Huge drive 320 GB. Fast processor. Vista 64 bit and fast 4GB memory. Windows Experience Index is 5.1 due to the ATI gfx. Processor and Memory is rated 5.9. Very quiet.

Cons: The wireless was a little flaky at first so I downloaded the latest intel wireless drivers from intel.com. 2 or 3 added trialware. Got rid of it.

Overall Review: I'm very pleased with this purchased. Used my tax refund to stimulate the economy. Comes with WinDVD BD player - basic but nice. The speaker is very good for a laptop. Not sure why the price is only $1199 - it should be worth around 1500. I'm not a gamer - I'll just use this for multi-media stuff and java programming.
