Question 1

The Startech .com website shows this device comes in a box with a dvd containing the device driver.  Your website does not mention the driver dvd.  If I order from you will I receive the driver dvd?

The device from newegg did not include drivers.  However, I downloaded drivers for both Windows 7 and Mac os x with no difficulty from startech's website.  Installation on both platforms was a breeze.and the device itself has been great.

Question 2

Does this product support windows 8?

I'm not sure if it supports Windows 8.  I passed it on to the person that needed me to order it.

Will this work with windows 10?

Mine seems to work just fine under 64-bit Windows 10, but I (lazily) upgraded from Windows 7 where I already had working drivers installed.  I've heard about people having issues while trying to install various older Windows 7 drivers (for numerous devices) in Windows 10, but it usually seems more like an installer issue that a driver incompatibility due to Driver Signing enforcement, etc.
Given that the FTDI USB-RS232 chip being used is really common (and well regarded), I see no reason why the FTDI reference drivers wouldn’t work just fine if any included drivers failed to install.  In fact -- though it was a while ago – I likely used the FTDI reference drivers in the first place, since that’s the kind of thing I normally do, anyhow.

Question 4

This doesn't screw in and keeps falling out - is there another style of this same type of adapter cable I could purchase?

I have two of the StarTech adapters and I do not have a problem with either one as far as the screws aligning properly. However I have had other brands in the past that did not align properly and was due to cheap cables connecting to the adapter. I would suspect that is your problem and not the adapter itself.  The one thing I have noticed with the StarTech adapter, at least with the two I have, is that any cable I connect to them have very firm contact and in most cases do not even need the screws attached. Pretty much all I use are the Cisco DB9 console cables with the adapter. Hope that helps.

I would connect this to a R232-RJ45 roll over cable (cisco.) and I just wondering if you are able to communicate with Cisco or Juniper switches and routers??... I seeing others R232 to USB cables that freezes when copying a configuration over on a Switch or Router.

I don't know about your specific application but I use mine for communicating with different types of audio control systems and it works very well. Probably the best one I've ever had.

It's a straight through adapter. It will work as if you are using the usb port. It only retains com port info. If you plug it into a different usb port it will change your com port # and that is it.

Do you sell this type of product but with the screws on the back?  I have this but am unable to tighten it, so it falls out all the time.
