Will this support my 240hz monitor (ASUS ROG Strix XG258)? My current graphics card right now it MSI twin frozr radeon 7950. I already have a display port cable. But my graphics card only have mini display port and hdmi. I'm using only hdmi and its only giving me 120 hz. Will these give me 240hz or I have to buy a new graphics card?

This cable is a passive Mini to Standard Displayport adapter, which is fine for what you want to do.  Your monitor native resolution is 1920 x 1080 and your GPU supports 1920 x 1080 @ 240Hz using its Mini Displayport (version 1.2) output.  Your HDMI (version 1.4) output of the GPU at 1920 x 1080 only supports 120Hz refresh rate.  Hence you observation.  Switching to displayport will give you 240 Hz refresh rate but only at its native 1920 x 1080 resolution.  If you go higher than it will fall back to 120 Hz.

These are tough questions to answer, except by someone who owns a setup like the one the questioner wants to set up.  I found the answer to the first question on Low End Mac (I'm not permitted to give you the link) plus the Wikipedia article on DisplayPort.  One of the two computers that I have attached to an Apple 27-inch LED Cinema Display through an ATEN CS782DP KVM switch, using this cable, is an Early 2011 MacBook Pro.  According to the Wikipedia article DisplayPort 1.2 was approved in December 2009, so my MBP should have it—and it works at 2560 x1440 60Hz through the cable to my monitor.  So the answer to your first question is yes.  As for the second question, send me a second monitor and I'll try daisy-chaining it to find the answer (insert appropriate smiley here).
