Is this product actually in stock and ready to ship?

Mine was. It was provided by a third-party vendor, so the return policy was different than New Egg's (return only for replacement item).

Mine was shipped out and arrived the day after my XBox One was delivered from NewEgg. Hope this helps!

Is this for ps4 also?

No, the 458 Edition is for Xbox One and PC.  There is another wheel by Thrustmaster that is essentially identical except it is for the PS4 and PC and the wheel itself isn't modeled after the Ferrari, the PS4 wheel actually looks nicer IMO.  That wheel is called the T300RS.  I own both and prefer the T300RS.

Does the controller sit in one's lap during use, or do you put it on a table?

You'd use a table the lap wouldnt work unless you tried to clamp it to an object but i wouldnt reccomend that you're better off getting it on a stand or table

does wheel have the latest firmware V45 ?

No...you just hook it up to your laptop and update it. Took my 5 min.  You have to plug in one controller and use that controllers headset to chat with the wheel.  Sign in witg the wheel and have a controller PLUGGED in to chat.

is there not a gas or brake pedal for this racing wheel?

The racing wheel also includes a pedal set with a brake and gas pedal.  Thrustmaster will be releasing a pedal set which also included a clutch pedal (total of three pedals) in the near future that will work with this TX steering wheel also.
