Is this a firewire IEEE 1394 4 pin connector on the one end - I need to hook my Canon video camera to my computer and it has a 4 pin firewire female connection so I need a 4 min male to mate - and the computer end is a standard USB - will this work?

This cable is definitely not a firewire cable.  It's a standard USB cable used for connecting things like printers.  I hope this helps.
