Will this work with a MAC?

I would suspect.   Although I do not have it connect to a MAC, I have connect to a wireless router running which runs on a Linux type system.  I don't use any of the software associated with it, just the as a network drive.  Works fine.

Am I able to reformat this drive to be compatible with Mac? I'm particularly hoping to sync it with Time Machine.

I bought this drive and am using it for Time Machine backups of my Mac. It has been trouble-free for the last year. I formatted it to Mac Extended Journaled.

Will this device work with Windows XP or does it need to be Vista or higher?

I am running Linux Mint 16, can I use this with my flavor of Linux?

I am actually not sure. Though I use Linux exclusively, Slackware, Centos and Debian, the drive was purchased for use with an Linux based DVR.

Does this unit require external power A/C to function? or can it run on USB power alone?
