Is the cable marked identifying it as a Cat 6 cable? I ask because I have a similar looking cable with no markings on it at all other than a SKU tag that does not bring results on google.

Is the cable marked identifying it as a Cat 6 cable?  I ask because I have a similar looking cable with no markings on it at all other than a SKU tag that does not bring results on google.

Carl, I never looked at the tags or read them because of the way Cat 6 is wire is wrapped.  Cat 6 cable has tighter wrapped pairs of wire and the different pairs are wrapped tighter to prevent cross talk.  As a result of all of the tighter wrapping Cat 6 does not look as neatly finished as compared to Cat 5E.  If cat 6 is laid next to Cat 5E it will stick out like a sore thumb.  Cat 6 will be the ugly cable.  Keep in mind that Cat 6 will be of no benefit if your ports connections aand and interface cards don't allow you to take advantage of cat 6 speed.
