Four Different Pattern Modes for Versatile Recording
Using Blue Microphone's exclusive tri-capsule technology, the Yeti can record sounds that range from the barely audible to the deafeningly loud - all without a loss of fidelity. Depending on what kind of sound you are recording, you can choose from four distinct pattern modes:

The stereo mode uses both the left and right channels, and is ideal for capturing a realistic, general sound image.

Well-suited to podcasts, sung vocals, and other voice work, cardioid mode records sound sources that are directly in front of the microphone. It delivers a rich, full-bodied sound.

Omnidirectional mode picks up sound equally from all directions. It is best used in situations when you want to capture the ambience of "being there" - like a live recording of a band's performance.

Bidirectional mode records from both the front and the rear of the microphone. It is ideal for capturing the nuance of a musical instrument, or recording an interview between two people.

With its controls for headphone volume, pattern selection, instant mute, and microphone gain, the Yeti puts you in charge of every level of the recording process. If you are experiencing distortion or feedback while recording an especially loud source, simply adjust the microphone's sensitivity with the gain control. Or, if you want to take a break in the middle of a podcast, use the instant mute button. The microphone comes equipped with a 3.5-millimeter headphone jack and allows you to listen to what you're recording in real-time, without latency delays. You can adjust the volume of your headphones using a control on the front of the microphone.

The Yeti features a visual design inspired by classic recording equipment - a stylish, retro aesthetic that will complement any computer system. Its metal grille and shiny frame recall the look of old-timey microphones. Because it's built on a hinge, you can adjust and pivot the microphone in relation to the sound source, improving sound quality. Once you have it at a desired angle, you can use the set screws to secure it in place. The microphone can also be folded down for easy portability, or removed completely from its base for field recordings.

The Yeti requires no complicated drivers to operate; simply plug it into your computer's USB port with the included USB cable, calibrate it with your operating system, and you're ready to record.
Start Recording Quickly
Who needs a learning curve? Yeti was designed with a convenient, no-hassle workflow in mind. Set up in seconds with the included desktop stand or connect directly to a mic stand. Adjust microphone gain, pick up pattern, headphone volume, or mute/unmute with easy-to-reach controls. And record in comfort with Yeti’s side-address operation - just speak, sing or play into the Yeti on the same side as the Blue logo to capture pro sound.
The Yeti is a side-address microphone. A side-address microphone accepts sound from an angle perpendicular to the mic — as opposed to a front-address mic, which accepts sound from the “end” of the microphone.

Pros: Amazing sound quality, incredible flexibility. This mic surprised even a professional sound engineer when he heard the recordings I was making with it. Multiple modes allow the mic to serve a wide array or purposes. VERY high quality construction, all metal - only plastic pieces are the dials and they seems well made, just like the rest of the microphone. Easy setup, just plug and play.
Cons: There was a small bit of metal wear on the stand, but it's hardly noticeable. The mic was picking up vibrations from external hard drives on my desk, more of a personal con, but speaks to the sensitivity of this amazing device. It is large, that's a con for some people - but with a universal screw mount you can easily mount this to an adjustable mic stand or arm (which I will be doing). Most people will want to pick up a pop/wind filter for this as well, it doesn't really have one built into it.
Overall Review: Quite possibly the best microphone available for the money. I did some voice-over work for video game compilations and our engineer (who does a lot of studio and pro work) couldn't believe my tracks were coming from a $150 mic I got on NewEgg. No problems getting it up and running seconds on Windows 8 64-bit. No compatibility or quality issues what-so-ever. Compared this to the Blue Snowball and for the money having all of the different recording modes and the solid desktop stand sold me on the Yeti. Absolutely would buy this mic 100 times over.
