can you scan multiple pages at once?

No, there is no feed on the scanner, it only scans one sheet at a time. But you can scan multiple sheets, one page at a time, and then save them as one PDF file or print copies as one document.

Is this compatible with Windows 7 64 bit?

Yes it is compatible and works great.  But I would buy another model that has auto-feed for scanning multiple documents. One page at a time is annoying and time consuming.  It's just a few bucks more.

Does it have the ability to scan legal size (8.5x14)?

I believe it will scan legal size. The scan carriage is easily that long, but I never had the need to try scanning a paper that large.
Its a really good printer with some nice features, like, shuts itself off after doing a job, and turns its self on when a print job is sent to it.

Will the scanner, scan a color copy and make a COLOR file? I understand that it is a black and white printer.

Do not buy. This is not a network able printer impossible to share in windoes. Only good as a standalone printer to an always on computer. Scanner will scan color to pc but will only print black and white.

What USB cable do I need?

a Male to female. the Square end plugs into the back of the printer on the left side (when facing the printer from the front) and of course the ubiquitous flat connector goes to your PC.

Is this wifi compatable?

There is no WiFi. Only USB connection on this printer.
In theory you could hook it to a computer via USB and then share it to others on your network via WiFi, but by itself it does not have this capability.

what is the difference between mfc and mfp printers?  and, i just want a quality printer for home.  laser.  black and white is fine.  but seems like the copy and scan functions could be useful.  any suggestions?

I don't know what the difference between mfc and mfp printers is but I bought this for my brother who is a very vey non computer person.  It works great for him -- I have not heard a complaint from him yet.  He is happy with the ease of use, the quality of the print and the easiness of scanning.  He also likes the cost of the toner and how far it goes.
