No, this has an internal ribbon that it transfers the ink from - but it's still a pretty sharp image.

Yes, This Fax machine comes with everything but paper. The initial ink cartridge is small so you will have to replace the ink depending on your use. The unit work great independent of a computer.

Per page ii in your user guide it takes a PC-501 print cartridge.  Don't know item # as I have never had to replace one.  Don't get many faxes - just send them.

I have an hp laptop which is wireless.  Can I hook this computer up to the fax and will I be able to print from my laptop?

As far as I know this is a standalone fax and copier, not a printer.  I don't see a way to connect to it wireless (or wired).  I just use it as a fax connected to my phone line.

This copier is a simple no bells/whistles. Easy to set up. Handle this one carefully its in the flimsy side. but its cheap.

I only want to send faxes.  All of the other stuff not relative. Do I need to set up anything but  date/time?

Yes the federal government requires you to set up the header with your company name and phone number your sending from.

If you have a wired analog phone system, all you have to do is plug your phone line from the wall to the Phone-In on the Fax Machine.

If however, you only have Cell Phone, this will not work.
