My main concern is getting consistent HIGH QUALITY color prints.  If you recognize the difference between good quality (rich vibrant color) and poor quality prints (washed out faded color), what quality does this printer deliver?

I have been using this printer for over a year and have been very happy with it for general purpose printing.  It prints text perfectly and it prints photos nicely on plain paper, but the colors are not rich and vibrant.  They are good for sharing with family and friends, but definitely don't look professional.  The images look crisp, but the colors usually look a bit washed out as if they had been left out in the sun.  I would suggest this printer for the average user, but not really for business purposes.

How many pages will it printer before you change ink?

I love this printer. I didn't count how many pages can print tons of them (with 15-20% color coverage). I have this printer for more than a year but haven't changed the toners yet. Only complain is this printer is way too slow and too big! But for the price and the amount of pages it prints, I love it. I also find cheap aftermarket replacement toners.

A good trick is when the "toner low" warning light comes up, just reset the printer and you are good to print a lot more.

Does this come with ink cartridges? thanks

yes it comes with cartridges, one of each color. They may just be "starter" cartridges, but they will last a while. Not sure how long because I'm still using the original set. BUT I don't print an awful lot of color either.
