Does this work for printing large quantities of bar codes?

Large is relative. It will print to the limit of the Label Roll (usually 100, I think). Anyway, the Software will do a "Mail Merge" like Print from a Spreadsheet. I think it will also convert Barcode numbers to actual Barcode if you set it to. It has a Manual Cutter, so adjust your process for that. The Manual should be available from the Brother website for further information.

Does think product include labels?

You need to ask whichever supplier from whom you are purchasing ... typically they do not include labels.

I was wondering if this was an ink printer or thermal? I am looking for a label printer I can put non-smudge ink in and print QR Codes.

I was perplexed on this issue as well, as there is nothing in the manual stating what kind of ink cartridges to buy, etc. So what I found is that the ink is in the label. It's either thermal or contact/impact -or maybe even a combination of both. The labels are proprietarty, but there is an aftermarket maker for compatible labels for this machine. (found aftermarket labels for about half of Brothers price when I Googled DK-2205) It is a very good deal when it's on sale..
