will this enclosure work with a single WD30EFRX 3.0TB (red), NASware 2.0?

Thanks Tim. I know little about NAS and RAID, and will probably buy another WD 3.0TB NAS when Newegg puts them on sale again.  I just need it storage for home use, bought the NAS HDD by mistake, but it does have advantages if I want to set up a home network.

Big enough for a couple of desktop drives:
H: 5 inches
D: 8 inches
W: 3.5 inches
Cables attach at the back so leave another inch or so for plugs, and fan airflow.

Does it come in any color, any color at all, besides soul shattered grey?

Why would the color possibly matter?
You plug in a network cable and stuff it on a shelf.
Stick it in a closet where the sun don't shine.
Or cover it with a box and paint 1960s flower-power designs on it.

Is this capable of streaming 4.5GB and 6.6GB files--?

I'm not sure what you mean by "streaming" those sizes of files.  I can stream music and video files regardless their size, but this is dependent on the codec used and the source of the digital files (Apple and VUDU do not play well with each other).  I can stream music from the server to BOSE Sound Touch equipment.

Question 5

I would like to buy a 4-bay NAS enclosure.  I have 3x1.5 terabyte hard disks and one 750 gig hard disk.  Is it possible to install these 4 disk in a single 4-bay NAS?  The above disks all have SATA interface.

The Model under which your question is posted is a TWO BAY NAS so it cannot hold 4 drives as you asked about.  I checked my manual for this model and you can configure it as a JBOD (Just a Bunch of Drives) (of different sizes - not sure what other 4-drive models are capable of but my guess is YES it's possible.

I am currently using the D-Link DNS-323. if I purchase this, can I move my hard disks from the D-Link to this one without losing any data?

Regarding DLNA ... I have an ASUS O!Play Air, a XBox 360, and a Samsung BluRay Player which all have DLNA "compatibilities". But EVERY NAS I've tried is a nightmare to configure, and in the end, DO NOT work. All 3 devices SEE the NAS (connected to LAN) and most of the videos are NOT displayed. But when I connect the NAS to each device (via the USB) ALL the video titles are displayed. Will this Buffalo Linkstation do the same thing?? I'm absolutely BROKE from blowing money on NAS that "say" they are a terrific media server!!

Read up on DLNA, its not a set standard that can be easily nailed down. I don't think you will find any device to work the way you want it to until standards are set. At least that is my understanding about the technology.

Does anyone know if this will work with a 2.5 inch HD? i.e. can I get a harness/enclosure to make it fit? Thanks

If you can get a SATA/IDE adapter that will fit in the housing, I don't know of any reason why it would not work.  However, I would think that you would want to have the largest drives available in the box and there are many 3.5 inch 1, 2 , 3TB drives available.  It holds two drives and can connect to one USB drive.  You could put two drives in the box and hook up the 2.5 inch drive to a SATA to USB Adapter and use it for a backup drive.  Hope that this helps.

Was there a string of bad Buffalo Linkstations sold on Newegg? Any recall? I have seen a few reviews here where the Manufacturer responded saying that some devices were released with a bad firmware.

you need to force an update when you first set it up, a little work but it is well documented and step by step. I will say that Buffalo has the best support team I have worked with in years, good response and they work to resolve any issues you might have. I'm really impressed with them and I will buy there products first!

Question 10

I live in UK and intend to get my son in law who is an American citizen to buy it for me when I visit later this year.
My question ---- do I just need to change only the AC plug for UK use or do I need to replace the complete power adapter?

Since its wired for US power you will have to get a travel kit that steps UK power down to 110. They shouldn't cost much.
