Would this be a good budget router for gaming?

This is a pretty good router if youre not concerned with getting the fastest possible wireless speeds. N600 is pretty fast dont get me wrong but there are faster available. If youre not gaming wirelessly then yeah its perfectly fine. If you are gaming wirelessly then I guess it just depends on what youre playing.

The only thing about Buffalo routers is the menus arent as friendly as some other brands but they do have more options than a lot of other routers out there too.

Question 2

I can not locate a dd-wrt download for this model.  It is not listed on the DD-wrt database.  Do you know where I can get the file for this model?

You'll have to look in the betas section. Its there Im currently running the beta. I'm not sure if its just my router or this model in general but the 802.11A performance leaves much to be desired.

Is this dual band router compatible with an Apple S5 Iphone?

Apple products work great on this.  I have have had 4,4s,5s, 5c, iPad2-4 all connected with no issues.
