Serial number i believe is on other side of 'Buffalo Highpower' antenna.    Very small writing....numero RCPBUWL09-****.

I need the drivers, did not receive any with the antenna, can you help me? Send me a link to a download? I looked on Buffalo site, couldn't find them.

I have comcast and my speeds are currently 50 download and around 15 up, yet im still severely lagging and spiking when i'm playing online video games (counter strike, left 4 dead, etc.), could we've completely replaced our modem and router. i'm starting to run out of ideas as to resolve this issue. could my wireless adapter possibly be the issue?

Slow connections is frustrating and at times isolating the cause can be even more so.

First, are you sure you're not being sabotaged? Internet telephone can suck bandwidth, youtube/netflix etc, running a file sharing service. Your Internet access may be a shared resource and other activity can intrude.

Your specific question.... Probably not. Out of all the links in the chain, your local network is the fastest, least likely to cause problems. One easy way to check, if possible, is to use an ethernet cable instead of your wireless adapter.

You can check your wireless speed (I'm assuming Windows here but I expect Mac can do the same thing albeit differently). Open Task Manager (right click task bar  it's in the menu) and look at Network tab. It will show you the speed you're connected at, and the speed data is transferring as a % of your link speed. If the link speed is much lower than 150k bits/second, you might have a defective adapter or router, you might be too far from the router, you might be shielded (metal filing cabinet?), you might have a loose antenna, you might just have a poor reception spot - use the A-B USB extension cable to move the wireless adapter to find a better spot. Very often, higher is better.

You can also use a service like speedtest dit net to check your overall internet connection. If you can, try it wired and wireless to see if it makes a difference. It is possible your ISP is sabotaging you if you use a lot of bandwidth and exceed your monthly quota - you could be moved to the slow lane until the end of the month.

It is also worth calling tech support at your ISP - they can tell if your modem is misbehaving, if you're getting a dirty signal, or anything else that could slow you down. They can also tell you if you are being throttled. Just be nice :) i have a problem can you help is often more effective than cussing them out for the lousy service.
