Am considering purchasing, and noticed the product specification sheet says no wireless adapter included. Is this an extra piece of equipment needed to run wireless connections? If so, how much extra would it cost, and why is it not included?

Hi

They are referring to the wireless adapter in your desktop or laptop. All new laptops come with the wireless adapter built in.

If you want to connect a desktop most desktops do not come with a wireless adapter. But you can connect the router using a lan cable instead.

This router does come with a wireless antenna and it is a wify router, just like any other.

Can this unit be wall mounted, with the back ports pointed down with little to no weight from the ethernet cables?

It can be wall mounted, but the slide holes are designed for the ports to face left (unit facing upright). It wouldn't take too much effort to face them down though, might need an additional stability screw or something.

How many Devices can this router hold using switches without issues?

I run 2 gaming computers hard wired and well over 5 Wi-Fi devices and on many occasions will have 2 Netflix streaming. Side note, I would not recommend this device to anyone. I have spent over 4 hours trouble shooting this thing off and on with connectivity issues.

What is the range of the wireless signal?

I get signal through several walls or floors in my house. I can use wifi outside despite the router being in the middle of the house and passing through several walls. Keep in mind that you have 2 radios to choose from (2.4ghz and 5.8ghz) and they penetrate walls and metal and other obstacles differently. Use the wifi signal that penetrates best for you. 2.4ghz is slower than 5.8ghz but tends to go further. Either way for browsing web sites or watching youtube, both will server you well.

I have has this router since 5/10/13, and for the past month or so now, when the power goes out (or also in this case, moving the location of the router) it ALWAYS loses my 2.4ghz band settings.

I attempt to re-enter them, and it doesnt save anything. I need to end up going through a 20 minute process of setup wizards, saving, rebooting and using different browsers to get this thing to hold the settings. Any ideas why?

The mini contains all the features of the standard distribution, with the exception of chillispot, nocat, rflow, kaid, CIFS client, SNMP, IPv6, and MMC/SD card support. The standard (std) distribution includes all features, with the exception of VOIP. The standard-nokaid (std-nokaid) distribution includes all features of standard, with kaid removed to free some flash space. The VOIP distribution includes all features, with kaid removed to make room for Milkfish. The VPN edition includes OpenVPN but does not include IPv6, CIFS client, or kaid. The micro edition is a stripped down version designed for the WRT54G v5 and other 2MB router models."

I want to set 2 of these up as a bridge between my 2 houses. Will the antennas turn so these can be set in 2 facing windows?

Yes you can I believe they turn about 180° you can also use a small trick with some aluminum full place it behind the antennas the direction you wanted to go that will increase the signal strength One Direction

I use the DD-WRT firmware, not the Buffalo firmware.  There is a menu in the settings called "Access Restrictions" and you can block individual URLs.  You can also block specific keywords.
