I think you're thinking of the wrong PS2, because this won't plug in to any scanner.  This is not an adapter for a Sony PlayStation 2 game console, so you can't use it to connect a scanner to a PlayStation 2, if that's what you were thinking.  This is an adapter for the small, circular mouse and keyboard connectors on older computers.  Those connectors came from the IBM Personal System/2 line of computers, which is why they're called PS2 connectors.  This device allows you to connect keyboards and mice equipped with circular Personal System/2 style of connectors to a computer that does not have PS2 connectors.
