I have a hp pavilion laptop with a Intel (R) graphics card and a HDMI female connection. Wish to couple with a recently purchased  acer monitor with a DVI link. Please advise to best adapter?

My monitor has a DVI female port that I want to connect to an HDMI port on my video card.  Will this connector do it?

This connector will work for any display with standard DVI female ports if you have a laptop/desktop computer with HDMI output.  I bought this connector for an older display that did not have HDMI ports.  I use it frequently with my laptop that only has HDMI output.  I plug an HDMI cable into my laptop, and then I plug the other end of the HDMI cable into this adapter.  Finally, I plug this adapter into the DVI port on the display.  I have had no problems with this adapter.

This product is an adapter.  It looks just like the photo provided...so, there is not a cable.  Hope this is helpful.

will this work to go from an apple tv to the DVI input on an older hi end sharp TV?

I do not know.  This did work for me on a PC to my HD TV for watching netflex and other things like this.  It did not do the audio though.  Which as not a problem for me since I had ext amp for that anyway.

But if you tv is the only sound you would get it could be for you

this should work fine, as i have done this as well.  the sound is not present on the dvi output, so a separate sound cable would be required to get sound to the tv.  
tweak the resolution settings of your video adapter to match the tv's native resolution.

I have an Asus MS-238H monitor which has D-Sub & HDMI but no DVI-D connection. I would like to connect the computer's graphics card DVI-D to the monitor's HDMI with this adapter & an HDMI cable. Would this work? It would be used for the basic computer display. Thanks.

Yes, I bought it over a year ago and used it to connect my tv to my computer and it works great for both picture and sound.

yep i checked thats a male DVI-D connector on this adaptor, should work, just rember you will need seperat auto...as DVI does not carry audio out

I had bought a HDMI Male to VGA With Audio HD Video Cable Converter to plug my Xbox One into my monitor and be able to use my computer speakers for audio... one problem is I do not have VGA but instead discovered I have DVI-D. If I plug this in will it still be able to work video and audio with my computer speakers?

If you are using this plug alone then no, the audio is lost in the HDMI to DVI conversion process. DVI does not carry audio. You will need to purchase an HDMI to DVI converter box of some kind.
