the installation instructions are vague at best.
I'm installing to an asus x79 deluxe mobo, I may just send this thing back.

I don't own this product, but I hope what I say is of assistance to you.

This doesn't look very difficult to install. I installed a simpler panel which just had audio and USB ports. I don't know which part you have trouble with: mounting it in your case or plugging things in. If you have trouble with the former, refer to your case manual (I had a little trouble with mine.) If connecting things are the problem, you will have to be more specific. All there is to this is mounting it in the case and plugging it into your motherboard. If you don't know where the connections are, I'm ASUS has a well-documented manual either provided with your motherboard or online. Look for a diagram of the motherboard or look online to see a general diagram or what all the connectors look like.

USB ports connect to the USB headers, which are fairly distinct and are usually near the outer edge of a motherboard. The e-SATA connects to a SATA port, which is also, while relatively small, fairly distinct. It's where your hard drives/SSDs and optical drives connect to (not the cables going to the PSU though.) I don't have experience with IEEE-1394 (FireWire?) so I can't help there, but I'm guessing it's similar to the USB headers.

EDIT: I can't tell from the pictures very well, but judging from them and the description this may be a USB plug and play thing, which wouldn't make much sense. If that's the case, you may be referring to driver issues?
