Can this be used to connect  US3 flash drive to an esata port using an esata cable?

Well I connected an esata external hard drive to the USB3 port on my Network storage device.  So I am connecting an Esata device to a USB 3 device.  Whether you can do it the other way, I am not certain

I have an open eSATA port on my computer and a USB3.0/2.0 external HDD, but I don't have USB 3.0 on my PC, or the ability to add it (no open PCIe ports). Can I use a female-to-female USB cable, and plug this into my hard drive, and a male-to-male esata cable and plug this into the computer, to get better-than-USB2.0 speeds?

I am not sure I really understand the proposed configuration.  Assuming "plug this into the computer" means using an esata interface, and the hard drive is capable of sata speeds, then the bytecc should not be the bottle neck.  Neither will it power the drive.

I have three of the bytecc connectors which are used to interchange external hard drives (I take a lot of photos with large files (10 - 30 mbyte/each), including 2.5 and 3.5" drives in esata enclosures.  The read speeds vary from the low 20s to near 90 mbyte/sec depending on the drive, suggesting the bytecc is not the limiting factor in most cases.

I am away from home at the moment.  When I try plugging the bytecc up to a direct esata connector and see if the computer recognizes the bytess.  If so, I will connect a powered external drive to see if my understanding of the proposed configuration works.  Should have an answer before the sun sets Monday.

i need a usb micro b to esata adapter. Will this work or is there an adapter that will do this?

At a minimum you would need a micro usb to female use and this adapter.  There may be an adapter that will be micro USB direct to estate but I'm not certain. B

Will this work with my external esata 4TB drive? Some reviewers indicate failure with anything over 2TB.

I did buy one awhile ago but I was attaching an SSD and it wasn't 2 TB!  Sorry - can't help.

Can this be used with normal sata cables instead of esata?

Yes, you can use a normal sata cable. As long as you get an esata to sata plug adapter, or a pci pass through bracket, or a cable that has esata in one end and sata in the other. Esata and sata are only physically different (esata plug is I shaped and sata is L shaped), but they are the same identical protocol with no signal conversion required, thus, they are interchangeable as long as you get the correct plug.

Yes this USB 2.0 to IDE/SATA has a seperate ac power supply to power the 
HD.
