Correct. If you have a 1/4 mic to plug into this adapter which will then be plugged into your mic-out on your computer, then you should be able to record anything given the proper program & assuming your mic works. Although...I might advise against this particular adapter. I bought it to use with my 1/4 headphones so I can listen to my DAP on the go as well as with my Mac laptop & I've found that more often than not, this adapter will pop itself out. Even more frequently if it's sideways or upside down. It's more than annoying; it's not worth the hassle imo. The fitting just isn't right for some 1/8 inch outlets, but I will say for certain outlets it catches well & manages to stay in.

I could have gotten a defective unit, but I doubt it; the adapter itself works, but I barely use it anymore because it's such an inconvenience while listening to have it cut off almost exclusively. Can't imagine the stress if I were trying to record something. Your experience may differ from mine...but I recommend getting a different brand adapter. There's better ones out there within this price range for sure.
