Is this printer compatible with Windows 10?

Yes, I haven't had any problems with this printer in the timeframe that I have owned it. When I upgraded to Windows 10, there were no issues at all unlike a few HP printers.

Question 2

Can this printer be used as a copy machine only and not connected to a pc?

Accepted Answer

It can.  However, if your primary use is going to be as a chippy machine, you may want to get one that's a bit more... Functional. This will work l in a pinch to make a quick copy, but you have to play around with it to make more than 9 copies or adjust the contrast and brightness, as there's only a single-digit display and 5 buttons for the entire interface.

what type of usb connection is needed?  It doesn't say 2.0 or 3.0 and I can't really tell by the photos if it is male to male or what.

The connection is made via standard USB Type B to Type A cord (male to male) which you can get at Newegg or nearly any brick and mortar that sells tech goods. It is a very commonplace type of USB cord.

I believe it is a 2.0. Really no need for the higher throughput of 3.0.

The Canon MF3010 is capable of both copying and printing.  Black-and-white, only.  The copier function is very rudimentary -- one page at a time, and if you need to do any collating for duplicates of multi-paged documents, it will need to be done manually.

The MF3010 is capable of scanning color images to a file.

Is this laser printer compatible with windows 8.1?

Yes, we have bought two of these printers and both are being used on Windows 8.1 machines  No problems with either one on installation using the disk provided.

1) Can you please confirm that the "width" (the front facing side) of this multifunction machine is only 14.7" (and that the depth is 10.9" (D) and height 10.0" (H)? 2) When the front part is opened to place paper in it, then what is the total depth? 3) How would you describe the scanning quality - mediocre, good, or very good? 4) Are generic toners available? Many thanks in advance.

I can confirm that the dimensions are correct - add an extra 5 inches for when the front part is opened (to insert paper, although more room would certainly help in order to avoid bending the paper). I haven't actually used the scanner part or run out of the original toner yet, so I can't answer the last questions.

I would assume so, it has drivers and software for OS X Yosemite v10.10 and older.
