Question 1

If my desktop is on a wired connection, can I still set the printer up wirelessly?  My Canon PIXMA MP620 won't let you.

If you want to set it up for wireless operation you will need to hook it up to your desktop and set that up. after that you can use it wirelessly if you need to. Setting up the wireless for this printer is a real hassle. alot harder than setting up my MP560.

Does this printer have Fax capabilities?

It looks like the PIXMA MG3220 does not have fax capabilites as one of its stated features. You may be able to jury-rig something via networking, but that's beyond my technical ability. I hope that helps!

does this have a scanner? can I air print from ipad/iphone?

Yes, this printer has an 8x11 inch scanner and a pretty neat software package. Supposedly you can air-print from your Apple device though I have not tried it yet.
I hope this helps. I'm pretty happy with the print quality and the scanner works fine so far - especially for the price.

Is this an air printer that can be used to print from an IPhone?

We currently wirelessly print using this device from a mac mini, two iPhone 4S's and an iPad 2 with absolutely no problem.  It was the most cost effective air printer that I saw on Newegg.

Does the wireless printing capabilities only apply to Iphones?

No.  I have an iPhone but haven't tried printing with it. I have a Dell laptop that I have used for wireless printing, and it works just fine for that.  Setup was very easy.
