Yes.  I am very happy with this printer.  It replaced a Dell printer I previously owned.  It is so much superior to the Dell.

How does this print envelopes?

I haven't done it. But there are instructions in the user manual which can be downloaded from canon. Basically, face down in the cassette tray. You must do it using a computer.

cannot print to pc do I have to connect local usb cord ?

I do not have a wire hooked to the printer, and can print wireless. I do forget how I set it up as it has been a while. I think I just set it as my se fault printer!

It should work with any laptop, however it would probably be better to get your answer from HP or Canon. It works great with my desk top and my IPhone.
