The DataStick Pro is made with a sturdy aluminum casing. This affordable drive is ideal for personal use, small business and schools.
Pros: I was suprised at the speed in transfering large video and photo files my last drive was slower
Cons: its not a flashlight too
Overall Review: Get a larger capacity I got this one on sale otherwise would have passed for 8gb or higher
Pros: Nice design and size, speed wasn't horrible when it worked
Cons: Worked for about a day until it got to the point where it could be recognized by the OS and wanting to be formated, but formatting it by any OS hung, and on some OSes over time, would fail. OR, it would come up as write protected on occasion. Waiting for the RMA to complete so I can try the next one, or see if NewEgg will instead swap it for a 4gb Kingston SD card that is .46 cents more per a recommendation/request on the RMA setup page.
Overall Review: As always, top notch service by NewEgg. Been a customer since 2002 I think, and not one bad experience! This is actually my first RMA with NewEgg (which was extremely painless), but that's not NewEgg's fault of course.
Pros: Affordable, works well so far.
Cons: The transfer rate is fairly slow. I wasn't surprised, it's common knowledge to expect something like that on a USB with the price it's being sold for.
Overall Review: It does the job, just be patient. It's good for people who just need it for small files. Remember to transfer only 1 to 2 files at a time. Transferring multiple files at once always slows the xfer rate.
Pros: Good speed: 19MB Read, 9MB Write. Nice, spartan style. Aluminum casing.
Cons: Removable cap does not snap on the other end for safe-keeping. That should be a standard feature for all thumb drives.
Overall Review: I've not had it long enough to speak to its reliability, but so far so good.
Pros: Very small, very clean styling, I am a college student and the drive has been perfect. Handles the abuse of being thrown in the bottom of my backpack.
Cons: Only 4 Gigs, more would have been useful.
Pros: Reliable, easily fits with other plugs -- not much bigger than your average USB cable connector.
Cons: A little slow, a few hiccups here and there.
Overall Review: I've been using it as a backup/file transfer as well as a bootable Slax drive for repair purposes. It's always performed well. I bought this back in August of 2008 at a big computer store in Puerto Rico and it's still going strong. I've even tried Google's Chrome OS on it. I ran into a bit of file system snag a few days ago, but hey, it's almost two years old with lots of use behind it. I can't complain.
It's been a good drive, even if it's not the fastest thing in town. I found I could transfer files pretty quickly, it was the copying files from the drive to drive (for example, a new location on the drive) that got slow. Other than that, it's been beautiful. But it's 2 years old.. Time to start shopping for the next drive to be ready when this one finally does die on me.
Cons: Of 8 bought 40 some days ago from elsewhere, 2 have failed. I'm replacing the rest as well.
Overall Review: Pay a bit extra and get better quality
Pros: Aluminum case, which should be strong. Speed is OK. Customer support is responsive enough.
Cons: This is completely unreliable unit. I went through 5 units of which just one had no media defects. But on that one led stopped working and only works if you push on USB connector a little. The read speeds are very inconsistent depending on if you read from beginning of the flash memory or end of it. I did not think this was possible since flash memory has no access time but Centon managed to do it.
I only used few USB flash drives before this one, all were minor brands. This is by far the worst one. I would strongly advice against getting one. Just spend few $$$ more and get a better brand.
Overall Review: Avoid this brand altogether.
