An Immersive Experience

Pros: This product is honestly the greatest purchase I have made in a long time, like before GPUs were so dang expensive kind of great. I used a standard Ultrawide 1440p monitor at 100hz and it was quite immersive, or at least at the time.

I studied this monitor ever since it was announced. Seems too good to be true with the specifications, but it meets every itch a gamer/multi-tasker/experiencer loves. Most modern games support the 32:9 aspect ratio, and though it may seem like too much, you are "IN" the game when you play.

Despite the 1080p resolution, the 144hz, the 1ms response time and the less stress on my GPU (from the 1440p Ultrawide monitor) makes it for a full immersive experience.

Cons: The only con you may experience is the regret you will have if you enjoy gaming or multi-tasking and you give this up.

But in all honesty, after using this for over 6 months now, this has saved me money and a pain of buying a new tv just to be disappointed. You have "Two" screens at your disposal. Xbox and switch play on it flawlessly with minimal input lag compared to a television. Still input lag cause it is a console, but not as unresponsive.

Overall Review: Some complain about how wide it is or how long the legs are on the stand, but honestly with the size you are dealing with, not including the amazing amount of height, tilt, swivel options there are, it fits fine. I know most people don't have a lot of space on their desk, and with that being so, you probably aren't that invested enough to purchase this monitor. If you game, multi-task, or like running two monitors on one monitor (AIO solution) constantly, then it is worth it. But if this is a casual monitor you use, then don't get it. Not cause of price, but because you will think more negatively about it compared to someone who will "actually" constantly use it.

cool monitor, started randomly dropping signal after about 4 months

Pros: looks great really is super wide.

Cons: i bought this and loved it while it worked. after about 4 months it started to drop video signal randomly even with different input sources and hdmi cables. Updated the firmware on the monitor and drivers on my graphics card didn't fix it.

Overall Review: there's only a couple of people on here that purchased this monitor and it seems half of them have had issues with it. its a shame because its a beautiful monitor and Samsung makes great products but this one seems to have many issues and i wouldn't suggest people buy it. When i bought it this was the only 49inch super wide available but currently there is a couple more options that i would go with now. The Samsung website claims there's a 3 year manufactures warranty but they have made it very difficult to start to process to have it returned for a working one of have it repaired. hope this helps people.

Overall a great monitor for gaming and day to day use

Pros: Ultra-Ultra-Ultrawide of course :)
Great for web browsing while having a video running large space allows easy multitasking
Ultrawide is the only way to play games imo now would never go back
Great screen color and quality product
I love VA technology very amazing blend of IPS/TN best of both worlds
The stand is crazy top notch so easy to adjust and stays perfectly where you put it! Really best stand I've ever seen.

Cons: Price is up there a very big investment but should last many many years so not hard con.
Still need powerful gpu to push the pixels of this monitor isn't 4k but still a lot more then just 1920x1080
Size can possibly be to big for monitor area lol
*Warning* not all games support this resolution some only run 16:9 or have to mod to get it to work or it stretches outer image which is more peripheral so I dont notice unless I stare to sides...

Overall Review: Disclaimer - I've owned 27" 1440p and 34" ultrawide 1080p and fell in love with ultrawide even with 1080p and fully fully will never go back to non ultrawide....that said 1440p is very nice without breaking gpu bank to run so yea...
I say if you have the extra money to spend get this monitor, but imo I would be just as happy with a 32-34 in ultrawide monitor but I dont regret getting this monitor :)
I do suggest but would also lean towards a 34in 1440p monitor to food for thought.
It is a huge monitor space required plan ahead.

Great monitor when it works

Pros: Truly gigantic. The 49" monitor has superb color accuracy with 144Hz refresh rate making everything seamless. Great for productivity. The huge widescreen is truly amazing for gaming, video editing, and web browsing. Also a nice show piece for company.

Cons: Ultimate Engine Freesync is unusable to do noticeable backlight flickering. The standard engine is excellent. The biggest downfall is my monitor arrived and worked well for about two days. It has since developed an issue where the screen goes to maximum brightness and contrast from left to right across the screen over the course of an hour. Having disposed of the massive box it comes in Newegg is not willing to replace the item. Having contacted Samsung they will not replace the item until a technician physically comes to my residence to inspect/repair or determine the item needs to be replaced. This is in about two weeks. So until then I am stuck using a TV to be able to use my PC. Moral of the story - if you buy this behemoth ensure you hold onto the box in case there is an issue otherwise you'll be stuck waiting for a technician rather than just getting it replaced.

Overall Review: Pictures of this incredibly terrible flaw in the device should have been sufficient for a replacement but Samsung is adamant that a technician must inspect the device before anything can be done. This is even after sending pictures of the flaw, as well as detailed pictures of the device to ensure there is no physical damage of the device. In retrospect I would have bought an Asus widescreen as they would have replaced it in a timely manner without the run-around.

Worth it

Pros: I love this monitor, its perfect for productivity and some games. By hooking up two inputs and doing picture by picture I can full screen watch something and still have half a monitor for whatever.

Cons: Its heavy. I wish the curve was a tiny bit more. Lots of games have to stretch in order to fit so I end up just letting there be black bars, others can't even do full screen(bethesda). Same with videos. Some Netflix movies have black bars above and below instead of utilizing the side real estate.

Not Bad But Would Not Recommend

Pros: - Stupid wide. In games that support it, the field of view is very nice.
- 1ms and 144Hz.
- Nice picture; sufficiently bright and colors are vibrant.
- Easy to assemble and has integrated cable management.
- Three easily accessible backlight preset buttons allow you to switch screen brightness on the fly. Useful for night cycle in games.

Cons: - After less than 6 months of use, there are several dead pixels.
- The screen isn't tall enough. It's about 4 feet wide but only about 14 inches tall. Not a natural field of view.
- The stand legs are fairly large and obtrusive.
- The extreme width of the resolution means it's only supported in some games. In others, you'll be playing with black bars on the sides of your screen. In the games that are supported, you get a sort of fish eye effect on the edges. The image stretches and objects seem closer than they actually are. In some games, like PUBG and WoW it's almost imperceptible, but it's there.

Overall Review: If this monitor were about 3 inches taller and didn't have dead pixels, I'd buy it again. As it stands, my next monitor will be something with a more common resolution.

Stay away - Spend your money elsewhere and save yourself a headache

Pros: The size of this monitor is sweet and once you experience this size and ratio, you cannot go back to standard 27" QHD monitors or even 34" ultrawides.

Cons: Developed 2 bright green dead pixels. Having warranty work was relatively painless but with the replacement panel and motherboard brought other issues that will require another service call. The monitor now will not turn on after sleep or power down. I have to manually unplug the monitor and plug it back in to get it to work. This is even after all of the firmware updates.

Also, it still has dead pixels on the new panel. Not quality for $1000+ product.

Overall Review: I'd stay away from this one. Samsung seems to have a lot of quality issues with their gaming line of monitors. Heck, I even tried their other 34" ultrawide and it came with a cluster of dead pixels. Google "will not wake", freesync issues, or dead pixels with the Samsung line of gaming panels and you will see.

Solid Monitor for what it is!

Pros: So here is my background. I have the Samsung CHG90 and right in the next room, my dad has the AW3418DW. So, I have used both, played on both, and will give my opinion on both. This is a review for the CHG90, but lots of people like to use the AW3418DW as a comparison.

First the Alienware. It's an awesome panel for sure! Playing BF1 on ultra settings at that 3440x1440 is breathtaking. Movies are great, super cinematic, and the monitor just feels solid.

Now, the CHG90 feels the same in every way but better, at least to me. Let me explain:
My old setup was 3 24inch 1920x1080 60hz monitors. I came from that to the CHG90. My reason for picking the Samsung monitor was I didn't want to sacrifice as much screen space compared to getting the AW3418, plus the CHG90 has freesync and I have an AMD gpu.

So, I don't remember the exact numbers, but my old monitors had a PPI ~88. The CHG90 has a PPI ~81. I don't see a difference between my old setup and the CHG90, but I can tell the difference when looking at the AW3418.

Personally, I program C++, game and watch movies/Reddit all the time on the CHG90 and the PPI is in no way a hindrance to my experience. I also find it easier to multitask with 3 windows open at the same time.

The AW3418 for me doesn't have those benefits, but what it does have is 21:9, which I am partly jealous of. Movies fill the whole screen with no black bars on the side, games without scalable huds fit well, everything is just "easier" if that makes sense.
So after my ramble there, it really comes down to what you're doing with the monitor. If your main focus is gaming/movies or photoshop or something, go with the AW3418.

If you want more screen space and can deal with the black bars and huds sometimes being derp, go with the CHG90. I honestly recommend the AW3418 over the CHG90 because it has less headaches, but if you can make it work, and at least for me, the CHG90 is a more fun and exciting experience to use over the AW3418.

All the features of the monitor work really well for me too, Freesync definitely helps my gaming experience, 1ms response time is great for FPS games, the thing is bright and colorful at least to me, and it's overall just fun to use.

TL;DR: The CHG90 is awesome, I don't have any issues with it personally, but it does take some adjusting to get used to. If you can deal with some little headaches, please consider this monitor, it never feels old or boring to use! If you're on the fence, take it safe and pick up something like the AW3418, the CHG90 is targeted at a specific audience for sure.

I would encourage anyone to go to the store and see both in person though if you are still concerned. I did not do that, and I have no regrets.

Cons: Not a con per se, but the monitor base is very large for those with a smaller space. Just something to keep in mind.

Overall Review: Would recommend!
