Question 1

Should I get the Chief LSM1U or LTM1U?

Accepted Answer

Choose the LSM1U if the display can stay vertical and you want a fixed mount with post-installation centering and leveling adjustments. Choose the LTM1U if you also need tilt: it supports the same general display-size range and 200 lb capacity, with +2°/-12° tilt. Both are designed for large displays; confirm the exact display and wall compatibility before buying.

Question 2

Is the Chief LSM1U enough for a 90-inch TV, or should I get the XSM1U?

Accepted Answer

For a 90-inch display, the XSM1U is the more appropriate choice: Chief lists it for 55–100-inch displays and up to 250 lb. The LSM1U is intended for displays up to 86 inches and supports up to 200 lb. Check the display’s weight and VESA pattern against the mount specifications as well as its screen size.

Question 3

Is the LSM1U worth choosing over the Chief LSA1U fixed mount?

Accepted Answer

Choose the LSM1U when you want micro-adjustment features for post-installation leveling and centering. The LSA1U is a fixed alternative for the same general large-display category, but Chief lists it without micro-adjustability. Both support displays up to 200 lb, so the choice mainly depends on whether those adjustment features matter for your installation.

Question 4

Can I adjust or center the display after installation?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The mount supports post-installation fine-tuning, including up to 17.4 inches of lateral shift and height and leveling adjustments. It is a fixed mount, so it does not provide an articulating arm or viewing-angle tilt.

Question 5

How close does the display sit to the wall?

Accepted Answer

The mount places the display about 2 inches from the wall, making it a low-profile fixed installation. It is suited to a flush wall placement, not to users who need to pull the display outward or angle it for viewing.

Question 6

How much weight can the mount support?

Accepted Answer

The LSM1U is rated for displays up to 200 lb (90.7 kg). Check the display’s weight and the wall and installation requirements before mounting.

Question 7

Will this mount fit my TV?

Accepted Answer

Check more than the TV’s diagonal size: the display must weigh no more than 200 lb and have a compatible mounting pattern within the mount’s supported range. Confirm the TV’s VESA pattern and weight before buying; screen-size listings can vary by source.

Question 8

Is the LSM1U a good choice if I need to adjust the viewing angle or access behind the display?

Accepted Answer

The LSM1U is a fixed mount, so it is a better fit when the display can stay in one position. In a Reddit discussion, installers point to tilt or pull-out options when angle adjustment or easier service access is needed; those options may add cost.

Question 9

Can I center the display if the wall studs prevent centering the mount?

Accepted Answer

Reddit users report that the LSM1U’s left-to-right adjustment can help center a display even when the studs prevent placing the mount itself at the display’s center. Confirm that the display and installation fit your setup.

Question 10

Is the Chief LSM1U worth paying more for than a basic wall mount?

Accepted Answer

It may be worth the premium for professional installations where easy adjustment and centering matter: installers in Reddit discussions describe using LSM1U mounts regularly and value their side-to-side adjustment. If lowest cost is the priority, commenters also recommend less expensive alternatives.
