This phone does not come with power supply?

No, this phone is intended to be powered via Ethernet lines, which would require you to have a Power over Ethernet (PoE) switch to connect to. If you don't have that available, a separate power adapter would be required. Cisco's power supply for this phone has a part number of PA100-NA.

Question 2

I currently have very basic VOIP phones in my office with 5 employees.  One of the problems we have experienced when we changed from land lines is that the new phones do not provide us with the in use status of other handsets.  I can't see if another employee is using his phone or not.  So when I transfer a call I can't tell the caller if I'm transferring to the other employee or his voice mail.  Does this phone provide in use status of other extensions?

I am going to keep this as simple and non tech as possible, so if I fail, my reply is worth what you paid for it :D.  Your question doesn't provide enough detail to give you a proper answer, however, I would say no.  If you are using a hosted phone system (VoIP provider), you would need to discuss with them.  If you are running your own IP PBX, it will depend upon what you are running and how it is configured.

If you are using a hosted provider, check with them before making a purchase because it isn't the handset that provides updates to the other IP Phones, it is the system they are attached to.

If you do choose to make a purchase, be sure to also buy the appropriate power supply if you are not using PoE.

IS THIS A NEW ITEM OR REFURBISHED?

The unit I purchased from Newegg was brand new.  Check the product description - Newegg MUST display the fact that it is not new if refurbished!

Question 4

Is this phone able to connect "wirelessly"?

yes, it can connect via WiFi without an ethernet cable (assuming you have the phone plugged into a power outlet with the optional AC power adapter).  In my experience WiFi does not work that well if it's a general purpose WiFi router.  I went back to the cable.

Question 5

What is the Power requirement? is it 5v? I'm debating on buying power adapters or a POE switch, however I'm unsure of the POE budget I would need from the switch to power the phones

It is 5v for the individual power supplies.  The choice to purchase individual power supplies versus a POE switch all depends upon how many phones you will have.  The power supplies run about $11-15 each.  Compare that to whichever switch you might be looking at and then the decision is yours.  If you are only going to have a couple of phones then the power supplies would probably be the way to go.

Question 6

I would like to know what else is needed if anything to set up our office with voip ?

You will need either a hosted voip provider or do it yourself by maintaining your own on site self hosted system. The former is very simple as all the hardware and systems are "in the cloud" and are maintained by your voip provider.

The second solution known as a self hosted system is very complicated and requires someone to be responsible for the architecture and ongoing mainenance of the system.

If you're asking this quesiton on this site, you definitely belong in the "hosted voip provider" category.

BTW, you will also need to buy a power adapter for this phone

Question 7

I currently own one of these phones. For the first 24 hours it worked flawlessly. It is not refurbed to the best of my knowledge. Now I'm getting persistent static feedback over the speakerphone. It only stops when power cycling or when unplugged, but returns as soon as power (via AC adapter) is resupplied. I taking this to be a hardware failure and will return the unit. Anyone else run into this problem?

I had another issue but I had good luck calling CISCO direct and they replaced my phone with no questions.
