Will this work with an i7 processor?

That depends less on the processor (Intel i7) than the socket (LGA) it will be used with. This Cooler-Master is intended for socket types 1150, 1155, and 1156. The i7 comes in several types; for instance, the i7-6700 Skylake uses LGA1151 (sadly, not the same as 1150 and the 1150 is not a substitute for it). The i7-920 quad-core uses LGA1366. The i76950X deca-core CPU (a beast) uses LGA2011-v3. To see if this Cooler-Master 1150/1155/1156 will support your CPU, you need to check the box the CPU came in -- likely, it will specify the socket (LGA) the CPU needs. If not, the documentation included with it should. If you already have the CPU installed on your motherboard, the m/b documentation will specify the socket type. (If you no longer have such documentation, you can search the 'net with your m/b model and find it.) Good luck and good hunting!

Very easy, especially if the backplate on the reverse of the motherboard is already present. All you need to do is screw each of these legs into it. I start with any one and then go to the opposite corner for the second, just to even out the angles and maybe some stress on the CPU.

I would take this to be an all aluminum core heat sink. I can't find anything stating that there is copper. I took the two tone simple to mean black fan with silver heat sink.

So far great cooler but its way louder than advertised. With my decimal reader its coming out to 53dBA. Is there a reason for this? I know its a 3 pin connector so it will be 100% power all the time. Whats the reason for almost the double amount of sound?

Enter an answThe three-pin fan means it is not PWM speed controlled, but that doesn't mean it cannot be adjusted.  Your motherboard needs to be capable of altering voltage to the fan, which many can do.  Check your BIOS for fan speed options - there may be some general ones like "Normal/Quiet/Performance", or you may be able to select a percentage of full speed.  If your mobo cannot auto-adjust according to load or temps, you can use those settings to manually adjust, but I would install one of the temp-monitoring utilities such as CoreTemp just to make sure that you are still getting adequate cooling.  You don't say what your CPU is, but the newer Intels should not need 100% speed from this cooler all the time.

If you don't have any BIOS options for adjusting speed, your other fallback option is to purchase a fan speed control or even one of the resistor-type speed adapters.  Reducing RPM even just a little can make a significant difference in noise.  Bear in mind that if you use the resistor cable option, you will not be able to reach 100% speed on the fan anymore, so using temp-monitoring software to ensure that your CPU is not overheating is a must. I would also suggest using a good thermal paste rather than the pre-applied stuff that the cooler comes with.  Good Luck!
