This says the fan is moveable. How does it move? How far? It's not obvious from the pictures.

The fan slides left and right. If you look at some of the pictures you can see the centered fan, and on the left and right sides a gap, and then a piece of support beam on each side. The fan will basically slide left or right until the edge of its outer housing bumps against that support beam. I would say about 2-3 inches on each side. It should be enough to center the fan mostly under one side of your laptop, if you know one side tends to be hotter than the other. It's also quite quiet, I've enjoyed mine as it pulls double duty for my gaming laptop, it provides a permeable support which allows great passive heat flow, and it provides additional active cooling.
