I have a dell Dimension XPS 400.I would like to add 4gb to my existing 4gb (4 slots of 1gb). Is this what I need to work in my xps 400 ?

Hello Joe, looks like this is the correct specifications for your computer. However, before you spend your money, make certain that your operating system is 64 bit. A 32 bit operating system will not recognize anything over 3 gigabytes of RAM . Open up control panel, then click on system, and you should see somewhere on the screen that you have a 32 or 64 bit operating system. 
I would highly recommend going to crucial. Com and letting them scan your computer. This will give you a more accurate picture of what kind of memory you can put into your computer.

Is this memory ECC?

I no longer have this memory so I had to dig for the answer. Corsair of course doesn't say nor does Newegg in my purchase. So I did a search for same model and found one that shows as non-ECC.
