Pros: The box this headset comes in is sturdy and pretty well thought out. Inside you get a product manual, the wireless receiver, charge cord and 5 ft. extension adapter. There is no driver disc included, you'll have to go to Corsair's website to download it. The software is fairly basic. It may say 7.1 surround sound on the box, but it's really just stereo 50 mm drivers with emulated 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound at a max of 48 Hz sampling rate. You can bypass the surround sound and go with straight stereo by clicking the big bypass button in the Vengeance 2000 software from Corsair's website. There's 8 EQ filters to choose from. Corsair seems to have really taken sound quality seriously with this headset. They have dedicated EQs, 8 total, designed by 2 professional audio producers and also EQs for MMO and FPS games. I prefer Audiophile 1 with a boost to the bass. The software has an option for room simulation, which I hated. It just adds reverb and echo effects, which in my opinion degrade the sound quality. The headset itself is very well designed. It's lightweight, sturdy and aesthetically pleasing with some brushed alluminum and chromed plastic with Corsair's logo. They cover up all the shiny areas with removable protective film to prevent finger printing. The ear cups, which appear to be made of crushed velvet with memory phone inserts, swivel in and out to allow for an snug fit and convenient storage when lain flat. The headset is surprisingly comfortable. I had no trouble wearing it for hours on end, with no discomfort to speak of. There are 10 notches on either side to allow for adjustment to accomodate variable head sizes. Corsair recommends that you charge it fully before the first use, which took about 4 hours for mine. There's a light that indicates the batteries charge. When it turns green you've got a full charge. The power button is on the left side, simply clicking it once won't turn it on, you've got to hold the button in for a couple seconds to turn on the headset, or turn it off. There's a blue light that indicates the headset is on, which flashes intermitently to let you know it's still active. The volume control is directly underneath the power button in the form of a roller. Like most headsets, it's got a fixed mic included. The mic is on an arm that can conveniently sit up or down. When in the up position, it's automatically muted. The mic arm itself can also bend in at a certain point to align to the users preference. I was impressed with the sound quality of this headset. It produces excellent high and mid range sound. Turned up to the maximum setting, they can get surprisingly loud for a battery powered headset. Rated at 105 db. Much louder than I can tolerate. Even maxed out, they don't produce any background noise, distortion, hissing or buzzing. The mic works quite well, reproducing a natural sound with no discernable distortion or feedback.
Cons: The foam ear pads were really causing my ears to itch at first. I was concerned it would drive me nuts and therefore render the headset useless. But it turned out to be temporary. They made me itch the first couple nights, but after that it didn't bother me any more. It's very easy to go way too far with the volume control roller. A little too much pressure, or your finger slips and it's much louder than you wanted. I would have liked to see smaller increments in volume adjustments. I tend to have to work with the volume control in game or in whatever app I'm running and the volume control on the headset itself to fine tune it right where I want it. The number one problem I have with this headset, and it's not exactly uncommon amongst headsets, is they don't produce enough bass. Some people may not notice, but I've lived, spoiled, with subwoofers most of my life. So bass is something very important to me. And this headset just doesn't have that deep bass that I want. It can produce decent mid range bass around 60-80 hz but any lower and it's virtually imperceptable. Also, the emulated surround sound really doesn't impress me very much. The difference between true surround and this headset is obvious. When it comes to positional audio, every detail tends to have a specific volume depending on where it's at. With emulated surround sound like this, the details tend to blend in with the rest of the sound, so it doesn't really stand out like it should. So because of that fact, gaming and especially movies can't sound as good as they would with true surround sound. So, for these issues I'm knocking off one egg.
Overall Review: The best thing about these headphones and the reason why I love them so much is being able to get up and move around, leave the room and not have to worry about any cables getting in the way or missing out on what's going on while I'm away. There have been many times already that I find myself rejoicing over wireless technology in the form of the Vengeance 2000 headset. Pricewise, this headset isn't cheap. But it is so well worth it when you can wander around your home and not have to compromise your listening experience. Cook your dinner or go to the bathroom, that's not going to be a problem any more. Corsair claims 10 hours of battery life. My first charge got me about 5-6 hours of battery life, but that was spread out of a period of a three days. When the battery gets low, you'll start to hear an intermitent beeping to indicate limited battery life. It's possible to use the headset while charging it. It will also increase the power to the speakers, making it capable of playing louder. This headset runs on a 2.4 Ghz wireless frequency with range rated at 40 feet. I have gotten roughly 25 feet. I haven't tried to go farther. But the problem is, they don't like to cut through walls. They will, depending on the wall. I can get a signal in my living room from the receiver in my computer room which is about 25 feet, but not 15 feet from the receiver running from my laptop in my kitchen to my living room. The difference is the wall is much thicker in that area. Once you start to get towards the range limit, the sound will start to degrade. But within a reasonable distance, sound quality won't be affected. I was concerned that there might be a delay in the sound from the source on my PC to the headset. But I haven't detected anything yet. Perfectly synced. The surround effect these produce is a little better than your standard simulated surround sound. It's a bit easier to pick out positional effects in comparison to normal stereo headsets with simulated surround effects enabled. So for games, they work pretty well. But for music, they work very well. They add some very interesting effects to music while maintaining a high standard of overall sound quality.
Pros: First impressions when seen through the box. Looked like brushed aluminum quality headset. Mic adjustment. Positive click control and very flexible. Ability to walk around house while these are on and still hear what's going on in on your computer, whether it's music or listening to your friends on ""teamspeak"" type program. TeamSpeak type programs. No problem experienced here. I would assume that all will appreciate the clear voice these provide over the game. Music, these things were made with voice in mind. Anything I listened to, ABBA, Roberts Flack, Pink Floyd, Blues, Bangles, many others. ( Ozzy is helpless ) you could hear tones not attainable by any speaker system I've been around in years. Not only the voices, but the music as well. There were times when I thought there wasn't enough true base but these aren't house speakers these are headsets. One exception-Pink Floyd will rupture your eardrums and make your ears bleed... movies. very good experience with all movies I watched. Either streaming or off DVD. Again, voice was supreme here. The wireless adapter works fine for up to about 14 feet or so. After that the sound will abruptly stop until you move back inside that circle. You can charge while playing. Cord is long enough. I found it was faster to charge if the wireless adapter was not plugged in for some reason. good: music-race games-movies-anything voice related. get very loud with absolutely no distortion.
Cons: HEAT! 5 minutes after they are on it feels like somebody took your head and shoved it in a microwave oven. Almost unbearable. No metal, all plastic. Not enough adjustment for size 6 3/4 hat size. Headband only rests on one small part of the back of your head. Not enough padding. Very uncomfortable. A standard knob is needed on each ear piece. One for volume control, the other for balance/fade. There is almost no ""stereo"" or ""surround sound"" effect with these. The sound is almost always slightly behind and to the right. Even when bypassing the Vengeance control panel it's not really any better. More on that later. FPS........ forget it. These were not made with FPS gamers in mind ( * ). There is an extreme lack of localization with sounds in all the FPS I played. ( FarCry2, BC2, MOH, etc. )...... ( * localization is where sounds coming from a distance are faint and gradually become louder as persons or objects get closer to your location ) Everything is the same volume regardless of how far away it is. Very poor design here. By passing the Vengeance Control Panel makes the sound worse as it jumps unrealistically from ear to ear. Again, very poor design for FPS gamers. TeamSpeak type programs. No problem experienced here. I would assume that all will appreciate the clear voice these provide over the game. Racing Games...... they should please people who like to play race games. You can make proper adjustments in the Vengeance Control Panel to make these just right. The sounds come from where they are supposed to and the localizations aren't that big a problem.
Overall Review: good: music-race games-movies-anything voice related. get very loud with absolutely no distortion. bad: FPS uselessness. poor sound localizations. HEAT
Pros: Lots of little things, in addition to the big awesome things. Yeah, 7.1, wireless, stylish, lightweight. There's good sound insulation. A clear charging cable shows clearly the color of the charging light. The mic mutes when flipped up. My friend on Skype said that my voice was extremely clear. My wife even likes them! Software is easy to use, and the presets work.
Cons: Over-firm fit at first, some micro-USB cables (like Newegg item N82E16812117554) are too thick to access the charging port, won't accept 2.0 Watt charging. Memory Foam is comfortable but warm
Overall Review: Fast charging isn't that big of a deal---the battery lasts a long time. A week of occasional use. Also, apparently, the ""leatherette"" replacement earpads for the Vengeance 1300 work for this headset as well. So, if you don't like the memory foam ones, there's an alternative, I just wish they'd sell them here, too.
Pros: 1.) Cool looking. 2.) Incredibly wonderful and enjoyable sound (see other thoughts). 3.) Excellent bass. 4.) Can charge while wearing. 5.) Great microphone sound quality. 6.) Great LED around the charge slot (for charge status, both awesome and useful). 7.) Cool looking blue LED for power button. 8.) Wireless range is great thru at least two walls (can walk 30 feet away before noticing any distortion). 9.) Makes music sound awesome (so awesome that I listened to a few albums I hadn't heard in over 5 years). 10.) Games with good sound.. Wow, they make the difference, especially if the game detects the 7.1 (see other thoughts).
Cons: 1.) Price seems pretty high for the device, seeing as it's not -TRUE- 7.1 surround and only emulated. 2.) Not sure if it's the material or the weight of the headphones, but they get hot after wearing them awhile. They make my entire head feel itchy, and I'm not allergic to cloth by any means. Wrong material used for cushions, perhaps. Also, I have very small ears but they fit perfectly in these, it still hurts a little after an hour or more. 3.) Microphone feels a bit flimsy compared to the rest of the design of the headset (it shouldn't get stuck next to the ear piece, it shouldn't wiggle so much). 4.) Volume button has a cheap look and feel to it, with no labeling, and a loud ""click"" noise when in use. 5.) Power button feels like it might just pop off as well - very ""plastic"" compared to the rest of the product. 6.) Windows only recognizes the device as a stereo headset (2.1) and not true surround headset (7.1). The 7.1 functionality is emulated instead by the software (you must go to www.corsair.com/vengeance2000 to download the software). DO NOT PLUG THIS DEVICE INTO A USB3 SLOT. For some reason it -really- messes up the drivers from the website that the manual provides (only default drivers work in USB3 slots, at least for me). Even with the emulation software, certain very high caliber games (like Battlefield 3) won't notice you have a 7.1 system, so you won't get the good options or sound effects. 7.) The swiveling earphones can pinch the daylights out of you if you're not careful. In fact, I'd just prefer if they didn't swivel at all. Not sure what the point is. Might be an easy “break point” later on down the line. 8.) Very sad to say that because of emulation, my Skyrim sounded not much different than a 2.1 headset. The bass was way better, the volume was way better, and the quality was way better, but the surround made voices right next to you sound like an “echo” in a shallow cave (regardless of environment in game), and voices far away just sound like the volume decreased really dramatically. There was no in front left/right, or behind left/right.. just a decrease in volume (and for the price, that’s just not acceptable). That's emulation for you, I guess.
Overall Review: If this headset was TRUE 7.1, I would say a price of over a hundred dollars would make it well worth it. As it stands, I would say this price tag should be cut in half because the people who are audiophiles that pick this up are going to have a lot of very bad things to say about it. I'm not an audiophile at all, I've been living off of five dollar headsets for as long as I can remember.. and already, I pick up the faults here from such an expensive headpiece. So, long story short, here's my final verdict: This Vengeance 2000 sounds wonderful in stereo, and wireless is fun – games will sound a lot better if you’re used to cheap headsets. However, it needs either one of two things: 1.) Price decrease. 2.) Complete recall/drive update that will make Windows recognize this as a 7.1 device so that all games will as well. Again, consider this is coming from someone that hears an Adam Sandler song on the AM radio and thinks it sounds great. Not picky, but know issues when I hear them.
Pros: I love this headset so much i was so excited for days after i received this, the quality and a attention to small details like the usb charger,at the end it is clear to better illuminate the charge light on the headset. The surround sound works excellent! the sound is crisp and clean has great bass and the mic is perfect, it is clear and picks up well. I used this in all different situations gaming, music, movies and this headset excelled beyond my expatiation. the range was awesome! it picked up everywhere in my home. The control panel good and easy to use.It was very comfortable.I wear glasses and i did not feel any pressure even after hours of use.
Cons: I seriously cant think of anything except maybe the size but easily folds to fit in your laptop backpack.
Overall Review: I tried this headset on most of my pc's my Asus G74, Lenovo Y580, and 3 of my custom built gaming rigs and had no problem installing the driver/control panel. The sound is comparable to my Creative Sound Blaster Recon3D and my X-Fi, yes it is that good! The battery life is close to advertized. The build quality of this thing is amazing, its Corsair Quality! I have lots of Corsair products from power supplies to memory and there H series of Cpu coolers and that's whats great about there products and their customer service.
Pros: Headphones are really nice to wear and stay comfortable even after quite a few hours. The 7.1 surround sound works great for things like movies and music. The bass response on these headphones is pretty impressive. The interface for the provided software is pretty decent and gives an option for disabling the 7.1 virtualization when something you are listening to doesn't really work with it. Overall, I have been very impressed with these. There were some times that I forgot that these were actually wireless. The range on the pair that I have is pretty decent. I was able to walk into the kitchen from my office (through two walls (about 25 feet away) and there wasn't any cutting out or distortion. Thus far, the battery life also seems to last all day and is pretty in line with the claims from Corsair (10 hours). I have has absolutely no interference from any other devices and this headset. I really like the volume adjuster on the headphones as it has a very good feel and really good notch gearing to indicate the changes in volume when you roll it.
Cons: The headphones (while comfortable) seem to squeeze my head a bit on the sides. This, of course, could be attributed to the fact that they are quite new yet. As I can be a bit of an audiophile I've noticed that there is a barely audible hiss before sound starts (when starting a video etc) for a second or so. This hiss is also audible (barely) when the audio is either really quiet or completely silent. The issue also is present right after something stops, say, after you are listening to music and you pause it or stop it. The recharge port seems located in a bit of a funny place but it doesn't take that much to get used to it when plugging it in.
Overall Review: I feel like the buttons are in a good spot on the body for volume and on/off functionality. As a side note, the mic is decent for things like Skype calling/ Vent or in other gaming environments. I don't feel that the mic is studio quality by any stretch but then again that isn't really the intended purpose. The receiver is about the size of a USB flash drive or so. Mounting the receiver anywhere shouldn't be an issue as well due to the decent range that I have experienced with this device. These headphones are on par to slightly better in sound quality to the Plantronics GameCom 720 7.1 surround sound headset that I have.
Pros: Clean clear sound, signal has great distance (50ft) Battery life of minimum 8 hours ,read other thoughts
Cons: I don't have another set
Overall Review: I reviewed these as an EggXpert and gave them a 4 star because in some gaming they sounded tinny and stated music was fantastic. well as they have broken in with my daughter walking around the house loving them I tried them again and the tinny seams gone so that means it takes awhile for the little speakers to break in. (music always sounded good/now even better)The only game I could find that washed the sounds all together was DayZ meaning it is the games fault. I just wish I had another pair now and will probably order them when more are in stock.

Pros: Rather then re-paste both my original and updated review, if you sort by date, about half a dozen or so reviews down you'll find my name: J.J. and the review title: 10 Month Update to Original Review Please take the time to read that first and then read the follow up to it in the con section here.
Cons: 2 weeks after posting my 10 month update about the swivel breaking through the right can, the left one broke in the same fashion. Within 2 weeks of me posting that update, 3 additional reviewers out of 6 experienced the same exact problem. At the time I'm writing this review today there are 220 other reviews on this headset. I just did a (rather long) search through them all and more then 50 of them mention the headsets breaking and almost every one of them is in the same exact manner. I just checked out another on-line retailer's site (which I won't name, but you are all smart enough to figure out) and looked for reviews on this headset. Guess what? Almost 20-25% of the reviews mention them breaking IN THE SAME EXACT MANNER as others are experiencing here. We're talking almost 1 out of every 4 sold breaking within a few months. This is not a fluke; it is a design flaw and 100% unacceptable. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely loved this headset for the first few months but you ABSOLUTELY CAN NOT have that high of a breakage rate in this price range.
Overall Review: When I was first accepted into this Eggxpert review program I told myself to not only be honest, but to make sure I would follow up to my reviews if it was needed. This is most certainly a time when it's needed. There is a very high chance these will break on you regardless of how careful you are with them. I'll end on this: While I'm not here to support or recommend another brand/model, I am here to warn you that purchasing this headset is a risk. If you're still considering the purchase, just say this in your head before hitting "add to cart": 1 out of 4 break.
