Optimized for the PS5 simply means it can be used in the PS5 in addition to the PC. It meets the PS5 specs for adding an extra NVMe drive (PCIe4, Heatsink, above 5000MB read/write speeds). I actually used mine for the PS5, so I can't speak for the effectiveness in a PC. It's supposed to have 7100/6800 read/write speeds for PCIe4 in a PC. I'm not sure if the PS5 will reach those speeds, but I tried to get the most storage for a decent price with a brand I know and trust. No problems with it in the PS5 so far!
