What size blower does this use?

Unfortunately Google failed me and I could not find out what the size of the fan blower is, but you are supposed to use the stock fan blower from the 290/290x its super easy to take off. If its broken and that's why you don't want to use it than I would say your best bet is to go with the NZXT Kraken G10 GPU Bracket, it has its own Vram  fan cooler and does not need the stock fan blower, which is fine because your temp performance will be based on what water cooler you get. I use the Corsair H75 and get 65C under max load and around 49C as an average.

Does this fit on the XFX R9-290A-EDFD?

The bracket only fits on the stock blower design cards because they are the reference design cards. I'm not going to do the research for you but all you need to find out is if your card has the reference design and if it does then it should fit. It should say on your cards manufacturing website.

Does it work with a MSI 980?

They just released a new version for the 980 series. This one is specific to the R9 290X reference. The model you are looking for is the HG10 N980. Just note that it too only fits reference design cards. If your card has the Twin Frozr fan setup, you'll most likely have to use the Nzxt Kraken G10 adapter.

With price of gpu, bracket, and water cooler might look at 295x2.  Will be a tad more but get 2 gpus water cooled in one slot.

Hello all, I was wondering if anyone has installed this on the Sapphire R9 290x Tri-x 8gb Edition? Is that still considered a reference card? or will the extra Vram interfere with the bracket?

Unfortunately this card does not appear on the compatibility list.

Is this compatible with AIOs other than ones by Corsair?

Not sure, but the water block mounts using the hardware that came with your AIO. There are holes for both Intel and AMD brackets so as long as you have either of those I would say yes. The only thing I see that would stop you from mounting it is the square cut out on the bracket if you have a round block like an NZXT. It may still work though.

Will this fit a Gtx 1070 founders edition card?

This one in particular will not. The "A1" denotes that this version is for an AMD R9 290/290X. They may have made a different version to fit the new 1070 but you should check on Corsairs Website. They have a compatibility list for each version to let you know what cards it will work with and you can find the model in particular that you need.

Will this work for a Radeon HD 7900 series?

The bracket is designed for reference R9 290 & 290X's only. I have seen where people were able to get their non-reference cards to work with it, but I do not think a 7900 series would work as it is not similar enough in design. You would have to go with the Kraken G10 for a 7900 series.

Will this work on a r9 390? cant find a bracket for any 390s

The tech spec section at corsair's /en-us/hydro-series-hg10-a1-gpu-liquid-cooling-bracket page doesn't list any 390s, so I would assume you'd need to make modifications to either the card or the bracket to make it work.

So I guess it's a matter of the tools you have and your comfort in tackling that kind of project? (I would guess "probably no" if you are looking for a ready-to-use bracket. But if you have a dremel and plenty of time and enough space that you do not have to worry about getting metal shavings on the electronics, I would guess that you could probably make it work...)

if I do not have a reference cooler on my radeon card, where do I find a gpu blower that fits the bracket?

You don't.  This is only for the ref card, meaning that the bracket has been molded to match the video card's memory placement for VRM cooling. Which means, that even if you do find a ref cooler, your real problem will be the VRM temp since they won't align with the bracket. This is only for ref cards. Look at other coolers like the raijintek's morpheus which can keep a card as cool as liquid cooling.
