I have been researching ssd's for use a sa boot drive and i do want to use one but i have also heard that some dont work well as an OS boot drive. My question is would this work well or should i look for another alternative?

I have this ssd currently to run my OS on but honestly I would recommend getting one a little bigger because even if you don't put programs on it it still has to save local files and it fills up super quick (learned that the hard way) so if your not downloading lots of programs I say go for it but if you are I would go for one that is a little bit bigger.

Is this product going to be compatible in my HP laptop envy dv6-7222nr?

If your motherboard has an available Sata III slot then it would be compatible, but since it's a laptop finding a place to mount it may be hard if not impossible.

Question 4

Would there be a benefit to getting this SSD, if a motherboard (a) has an Intel H61 chipset, which does not support AHCI, and B) is only SATA II compatible? Or will non-AHCI and non-SATA III, cripple the SSD’s functionality in a system to a point that the cost does not justify the benefit in increased performance, if any? If the SSD was utilized for such a motherboard, would a user see a noticeable performance improvement, if any?

Great question. My situation in using this SSD is similar to yours. My ASUS MB doesn't support AHCI or SATA III (II only). From what I understand this perhaps doesn't mean all that much in terms of sacrificing some performance. My big concern was getting this all to work on a motherboard that hadn't been certified compatible with Windows 7. And the rat keeps chasing its tail. Anyway, all works very well so far for me, which is on a law office machine that's frequently used. The biggest issue is in being able to use Windows 7 SSD TRIM function and garbage collection to keep this drive as fresh as possible. In my case the TRIM function works superbly. We're very happy with the purchase of this SSD and there is so far an enormous injection of speed in things like boot up, etc. I think using SSD's are the ticket. I have them now on three different machines and they all rock. It's like getting a new computer. Hope this helps.

will this fit/work for Toshiba Satellite U945-s4110 14" notebook ultrabook with 32 gb ssd, does the 60 give any improvement? thank you.

If the laptop has a 2.5" slot then yes it will. Though it will need to have two hard drive bays if you want to keep your 32gb ssd in. The ssd is a great improvement from a spindle but since you do have a 32gb ssd I don't think you will see a large improvement. I hope this helps for your decision on this ssd or any other hard drive you get.

Does this have a read only mode?  Is that a write protection switch I see on the right side?  (gray)

haha no not that I know of.  That is a tape that is present on both sides and probably indicates a factory seal that has not been broken.

It might be a sand force. If your that concerned it's not the main thing to consider. Do your research on  memory type this is mlc. Samsung use tlc. 
Most ssds use mlc. But Samsung added a cache on there tlc memory. To make it look faster. But if the cache fills cus the files to big. Then thoses higer speeds are not reached. I'm currently using this as a hybrid drive for my hdd using intel raid. 
I my self  will be doing more research on this. Hard part is ssds keep improving because the world knows that it will be the only option for the transport median. Once we can eliminate the wear on these drives.
