Does this "manufactured recertified" model come with thermal paste pre-applied like a normal retail unit would, or should I pick some up?

Mine came with thermal paste pre-applied as would be the case for a normal, new cooler.  I didn't use it so I can't vouch for the quality but it certainly looked like it was of reasonable quality.

Question 2

So this is refurbished, is it still a reliable and working piece of hardware?

I have run it on my CPU for the last 18 months nearly 24/7 with nothing near a heat spike. I've found the refurbs are usually more reliable than factory-made anyway. No leaks, no issues. I'd suggest a well sized case (have a Cooler Master) as it is kind of irregular with the tubing. I run my fans on their lowest settings, and like I said, no issues.

Question 3

will this work with 1151 socket skylake?

Mark,

The specs say it supports 1150 so if the mounting for an 1150 is the same as the 1151, it will.  I have it mounted in an AMD system.  What helped me with the mounting is I went online and searched videos for mounting it.  I installed it just about 1 year ago and it has been working just fine.  It was brand new and unopened. I have an AMD 6 core and it keeps it at about 43.

my rear fan mount is for a 120 will this bolt up to it?

Depend on the case. Most mid and full size tower will have the 140 mm, 120 mm and the 90 mm hole for the fan. If you don't see one then your case doesn't support the 140 mm and this will not work for you. You will have to go with the H75 model which will support the 120 mm fan hole.

Question 5

How is the pump noise on this unit?  I presently have a CM Nepton 140XL and find the high-pitched whine too offensive.  Looking for an alternative with a silent pump.

I hear the sound of the 140mm fan over the pump in fact, sometimes I forget I even have a liquid cooler. The fan itself isn't too loud by the way. My pump actually started making a really loud noise so I did some research and found out that there might have been a bubble in the tubes. Not sure if it was that, but I did what they told me and the loud noise hasn't been heard since.

So yeah, it cools down my AMD 8350 under heavy load and runs silently.

will this cooler work and do a good job on the RYZEN 1600X in a corsair 400r case ?

I don't have experience with this case, but am judging from the inside shot on the Newegg page. It looks like the fan is going to be mounted right on top of the motherboard bay. The problem is the loop tubes; they come out at least another 1.5-2 inches, depending on high tight you turn them and you may not have enough clearance with your motherboard. I'm using an H90 with a 1700X and get excellent temps with almost no fan noise. If it fits, I don't know a good reason to go with anything else; getting just .1GHz more than this cooler will cost a lot more.

Question 7

Does this cooler have a 3 or 4 pin connector?  My board will not boot without a 4 pin.
