Do I need to apply thermal compound to my CPU (i7 4770k) with this cooler?

Nope.  It actually comes with thermal paste already on it.  If you are particular about the compound though, you can scrape the existing paste off and reapply your own.  But to reiterate, you do not need to apply your own thermal paste with this cooler - as it already has preexisting paste on it.  I've been using the stock compound for 2 months so far with no issues at all.

Im new to upgrading PC, and need to know how to check Compatibility on my PC, Its a Dell 660 I5 (Pretty sure its a) 3340, windows 8. Where do I find and What am I looking for to check compatibility?

Not actually in wattage from the CPU but motherboard fan headers. Your current cooler will be connected to one if you look at you computer, I'm not sure how visible it will be in a box built computer like HP, but if you dog around a it you should see it, it would be a 3 or 4 pin power connector, no bigger than a dime. Or I it might be a molex connector, I can't describe what it would look like but Google image search will show you exactly what that is. This cooler needs to have a 3 pin power connector or a molex connector (which will require I to have your own 3 pin to molex converter)  for the CPU fan and a 4 pin power connector for the pump for the cooling fluid. You should definetly have a power connector (3 or 4 pin) available once you remove the stock cooler, but since this is an HP the motherboard might be specifically designed for their hardware and not have the additional power connector. The pump for the cooler has to be powered by the motherboardmotherboard because it's operation will be determined by the load on the CPU, the fan can be connected to the power supply with a molex conversion cable. It sounds crazy and difficult but it's not that bad one you open up your tower and look around, and familiarize yourself with what our looking for.. The 3 pin, 4pin sand molex power connector. Do a Google image search for these items and look around your computer to see what your dealing with. Is this good enough for the Intel Core i7-5820K? I don't really push the limits with overclocking.

I purchased the Corsair Hydro series H55 Quiet Edition Water/Liquid CPU Cooler 120mm for my Intel Core i7-5820K editing system. I do heavy video editing, graphics animation and graphic design and feel that I do push my computer to the limits. I am more than pleased with the performance and quality, as well as how quiet it really is!

Nope everything you need is included.
Unless you plan a dual fan for a push pull setup.
That is what I have.
Also check your case to be sure you have room to mount the
Radiator and fan.

Will it fit on an am3+ socket?

The short: Yes.

The longer: I have it installed with an ASUS SABERTOOTH 990FX R2.0 AM3+ AMD Motherboard with an AMD FX-8350 Vishera 4.0GHz (4.2GHz Turbo) Socket AM3+ 125W Eight-Core Processor.

The instructions were unclear and I had to figure out which parts of the kit were needed, but once installed it is quiet and keeps the CPU cool.

It should. I use a CM Storm Scout 2, I put it on the Back exhaust as an intake(if that makes sense) But It works very well, Keeps my i5 3570k frosty

Question 7

One Question: Upon opening and installing the cooler, I noticed some oil - like residue near the connections that connect the hoses to the pump (the circular disk that you place on top of the processor.) Is this normal? Or did I receive a defective product?

I don't know, but you should contact Corsair tech support, not us users.  I had a different question about my H55 and I found the technician to be very helpful, competent, and courteous.  Some of the best tech support around.  Give them a try.

Question 8

should the fan go between the radiator and the case or the radiator between the fan and the case... and should the fan be sucking in outside air or blowing out?

As the instruction manual clearly states, they recommend using the fan as an intake (between case and radiator, pulling cool air from outside and blowing it into the case).

However this doesn't mean you can't use the fan as an exhaust, it just won't cool as well.  I have mine running as an exhaust and it still keeps things cool...but of course your situation may vary as it will depend on temp and airflow inside the case.

Question 9

I have a AMD 8 core FX 8350 processor on a Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 motherboard.  Will the Corsair Hydro H55 fit and if so, is there a video showing how it fits?  Do I remove the current heatsink and fan and then place the H55 on the processor or does the current heatsink stay in place?  If the current heatsink is removed, I don't see any thermal compound with your package to use.

I have the same processor a different motherboard but it should fit. U remove old heatsink and fan as well as the part that holds the heatsink down. Clean cpu with alcohol really well. There are instructions on how to install this for amd cpu's its pretty easy. The new heatsink comes with thermal paste already applied so u just take off the plastic cover and there is a set amount on there. Do not take apart the hoses as this is a closed system mine is mounted in my cas with the fan sucking air from outside inside case its the same concept as a car radiator. This keeps my cpu super cool and is very quiet

Quick question, will this be able to be installed into my Antec Nine Hundred Black Steel ATX Mid Tower ?

Most likely. Although I am not familiar with that case, most newer mid tower cases I have seen are using a 120mm fan in the back, and that is where you should install it. Simply remove the fan that is currently there, then follow the instructions for installing the radiator and fan from Corsair. Make sure to look at the arrows on the fan, and follow the instructions, to ensure you are getting the greatest efficiency for the radiator.
