Do I need to purchase coolant for this? What kind of coolant does it use?

Accepted Answer

Coolers like this one and other AIO coolers (all in one) do not need to be filled or maintained. They're suppose to be ready to go and last as long as the manufacturer states.

Question 2

It looks like the copper plate might already have thermal paste. Can I skip putting thermal paste on myself or is that not actually thermal paste that's on there?

It was on mine when received. I cleaned it off and put my own on it. I have fried components before, so I don't take any more chances. I am unbelievably happy with this cooler. I have it front mounted inside the case blowing into the case, and enough fans blowing out to create a very slight negative case pressure.

Question 3

Does the RGB come turned off?
i dont want to have a software running in the back to keep the RGB off

Out of the box, my LED was on to the default setting, which I believe is wave. I actually own other products and love the app, so I am not sure if it can be shut off without the app.

Will the CORSAIR ML120 PRO RGB, 120mm Premium Magnetic Levitation RGB LED PWM Fan work with H115i?

it comes with 2 140 mm fans that you attach to the radiator, you can attach any other 140mm fans because that's where the holes are.

With the link connection will that help tell you if something goes wrong like the pump going out or something? i love the look of aios but im kinda concerned about the reliability.

Yes! In Link you can set up notifications for every component that it recognizes down to your RAM. I currently have a notification that will ramp up all my fans to 100 then shut my PC off after 30 seconds if the pump drops to 0 RPM. You can set the minimum to whatever you want.

can you use 120mm fans on this instead of the 140?

No. Download the installation guide. It has a figure which makes this clear. They have an almost identical model with 120 mm fans.

does this work on am3+ cpu?

Yes it will work on a AM3.I have mine on a AND Ryzen and a ASUS Crosshair 6 ROG

Do I have to run some kind of Corsair software in order to configure this cooler?  If so, will the cooler remember my settings so I can shut down that software or boot over to Linux and retain my settings?  Can I permanently turn off the RGB feature?

Yes, you can use it without the Corsair software. I’d still recommend having it installed, though you can set it to not run at boot and only open it when needed. Also, the original H115i is still compatible with LINK, if you’d rather use that instead of iCUE. If you run the fans off the pump, then you’d need to run the software in order to monitor them; otherwise you can just run them off the CPU header on your motherboard (if your motherboard also has a dedicated header for the AIO— otherwise you’d need to run the pump off the CPU header). I’m honestly not sure if you can disable the RGB feature, but you can set a static color and save it directly to the unit if you don’t want to see the rainbow vomit every time it boots up.

Question 10

Thinking of pairing it with a Ryzen 3900x. Will it handle the heat?

It shouldn't be an issue, I've been running an 8th gen Intel CPU overclocked to 4.7 and it's been maintaining on average 45c at full load. That said, case choice and radiator placement are key. I went from a Corsair Carbide Air 740 to a Be Quiet Dark Base 700 and CPU temps increased 10 C. This is with the radiator pulling in fresh air right from the front intake. Granted 54 C is still good but case options and placement do matter. Overall I love this cooler, software is getting better, performance is reliable and overclock temps are zero issue.
