I'm new to water coolers. Do I need to buy a coolant for this water cooler (Corsair Hydro Series H100i PRO)? And if so, what are the recommendations for coolant?

This is an all-in-one system, so all you need to do is install it. It comes with radiator and coolant.

so is this item basically a 240mm radiator?

This item is a 240mm radiator that includes two fans, pre-installed tubing with liquid and CPU block. Only installation necessary is to mount the radiator and fans and the block on the CPU. It would not be suggested to take this as a 240mm radiator for DIY cooling. This is a pre-installed loop.

Question 3

Video did not show any thermal compound applied before cooler was attached to the cpu. Is it not necessary?

The cooler comes with thermal paste on it applied already it’s up to you if you’d like to remove the one pre added, and apply your own. The choice is yours.

How is the quality of the pre applied thermal pad? Would I be better off and cleaning it and applying different thermal paste?

I've never had an issue with the factory paste. It is a thin layer that covers a big square size overall. The few I've upgraded or moved to another PC I always wipe it off and use new paste. Can't say I've ever noticed cooler temps from stock paste vs applying my own.

Question 5

In the image, the pump looks like the ring around it is white. I have a white rig, and that would look great. Is the thing on the pump actually white, or is it just a trick of the image? Thanks in advance!

it's like a very light silver/off-white/grey type color it's not a pure white.

Question 6

Can this fan be used as an "air intake" or "air exhaust" system? Or both? I was thinking about mounting it to the top of a mid-tower and didn't know which way to use it as.

Yes, you can place the fans in a push or pull configuration. If you mount it at the top it is best to use it as a push configuration. That is how I have mine mounted. Keeps it nice and cool, but I have good case cooling and airflow as well.

Will This work with the AMD RYZEN 7 2700 8-Core 3.2 GHz (4.1 GHz Max Boost) Socket AM4 65W YD2700BBAFBOX Desktop Processor CPU ?

According to the specs it does support the AM4 socket … however I have not personally used it for that socket.  Typically corsair mounts offer a great deal of flexibility so I am comfortable in saying Yes... it will fit.

Yes it does. It's a very simple attachment and does not require removing the backing plate. It has interchangeable mounting brackets.

5 3/4 cm or 2 1/4 " in thickness with the fan and cooler.

H100i Pro RGB vs. H100i Platinum vs. H100x. I'm building a Gaming PC. What's the difference and which is the best? Thanks! :)

H100i Platinum and Pro are the same thing except the Platinum comes with RGB Fans on the Radiator. The Pro only has RGB on the pump head. The Pro and Platinum come with the magnetic levitation bearings for the fans so they are quieter and last longer in theory. The X only has white LED on the pump head and has standard fans. Otherwise they perform relatively the same.
