Corsair Flash Voyager USB drives are rugged, stylish, compact, reliable, and exceptionally fast, making them ideal for transporting MP3s, digital images, presentations and more. With data transfer rates up to 19Mb/sec, Flash Voyager drives are fully Hi-Speed USB 2.0 compliant, and are backward compatible with USB 1.1. They support Plug and Play with most operating systems. Their durable rubber casing is easy to grip and water resistant.
Pros: Very durable. VERY DURABLE. I can’t say this enough. I’ve dropped it, thrown it (HARD) at people, played catch with it. It still works like new. It’s actually my favorite thing about it. Unlike most flash drives, which have a hard plastic shell, this is incased in a rubber shell. Tons of fun. Otherwise it has good capacity/speed for the price. And I’m not sure about the speed, since I’ve never owned another flash drive to compare it with. But the stats say it’s a bit faster then the average speed within the price range.
Cons: It gets dirty, since it's kind of rubbery. It's not hard to clean (soak a paper towel in some Absolute vodka and rub), but you really don't need to clean plastic-cased Flash drives. However, the rubber-case is also what allows me be so careless with it. But if you don't plan on hitting people with your memory, it's a con. Also, it's a bit thick, so it doesn't let me use adjacent USB ports, vertical or horizontal. And while I guess that's why they included that short extension cable, it would be nice if it was naturally that thin. Alternatively, it would be nice if the cable was longer, so it could be used for more then just thinning out your plug. Note: Finally, it doesn’t bounce. That might sound like a silly complaint, but given why I like it...
Overall Review: You’ll notice that despite the length of my cons, it still gave it a 5/5. There a several reason for that: A) I was really nitpicking, B) none of those issues is something I’d noticed until I started thinking about the cons just now, and C) some of my complains are entirely outside the normal function of flash drives. I’ve had this thing for about 6 months now. I’ll buy from Corsair again. I’d say all the “newegg gr8 for shippz!” stuff, but the truth is I can see the NJ warehouse out my window. I really wish I could just go over and get it. I know Newegg isn’t a retail store, but seriously, I see the warehouse. Even if this automatically makes all my orders “next day” in effect, I don’t like waiting an extra day and paying shipping when I could just walk over and get it.
