XMP says Intel, I'm new to computer building.. Built my first one and am having to RMA my Crucial Ballistix Sport XT RAM.. Is this RAM's XMP compatible with AMD?

According to some of the forums I was reading, AMD does not support XMP.  However if you are asking about it regarding overclocking, there should be enough resources out on the web to make manually overclocking the system relatively easy.

Its going to be NON-ECC.  This is regular PC memory.  The ECC memory is for servers that require error correction and ECC or server memory will be stated, if it applies.

Faulty memory?  I added this memory to already existing 16GB of same memory (making 32GB total) on ASUS SABERTOOTH 990FX R2.0 AM3+ AMD 990FX + SB950 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard with UEFI BIOS.  My system has been working fine for over a year on 16GB.  The new arrangement bombed my system files before I realized, and have spent last 3 days bringing it back from the dead with new memory removed.  Are these bios settings OK?

Are these two 8 GB channel pairs ? If so, make sure that each memory channel pair are installed into each respective channel DIMM slot. They are not always adjacent to each other. If it is a single 16GB then maybe make sure you have each 16 GB in its own channel bank. Look at your DIMM slots on your motherboard the channels are labeled.
