I am running it on windows 8, and I have not had any problems with it. However, I have not upgraded to 8.1 yet. Hope that helps!

According to Creatives website it is supported for playback only.

Is this compatible with windows 8.1, can I record onto my reel to reel from my computer and my turntable as well as use for listening to music on my computer, reel to reel and turntable?

Yes, but, why on earth would you  record from PC to reel to reel?  Hard drive space is far cheaper than tape and...you would be recording to tape, the absolute worst music storage medium next to wax. Plus reel to reel is not portable.

Does this device have a "sleep" mode in the menu?

There are a number of apps that come with it and none of them have a sleep mode. You can always temporarily turn it off in control panel if you have to.

Yes, I use it on Ubuntu Server, Windows 7, and Windows 10.  No issues.  NOTE:  On Ubuntu Server, I have the drive installed and powered up before I boot into the OS.  Haven't tried hot-swapping

The specs say "SPDIF In = RCA. I see no such jack in the product photos. Does it have a digital input or not? If so, what type of jack is it?

I have a new Toshiba Satellite laptop, and have a Logitec z 5300 Dolby 5.1 surround sound system.  It has Front, Rear and Center/Sub input feeds to it.  I only see Right, Left and Sub outputs from this device.  Will this work with my surround system?

Center/sub is combined in one input. Yes.

I have windows 8 and I cant find how to equalize the sound in order to handle the bass intensity. When I had windows 7 there was a software for that but now anymore. Can u help me with this. Is there a sepparate software that one can download?

I was able to use the equalizer and other enhancements that appear as plugins to the Windows Media Center.  I am loving this device!
